Gutfeld would ‘go to war’ over student debt cancellation: ‘I don’t want to pay your bill!’

Fox News’ Greg Gutfeld, co-host of “The Five,” was discussing college degrees and student loans when he revealed how seriously he feels about the cancellation of student debt.

Fellow co-host Sean Duffy opened the segment with some disheartening statistics on college grads before kicking it over to Gutfeld, asking if the college experience is “worth it.”

“It doesn’t matter if it’s worth it if it’s required in life,” Gutfeld remarked. “A college degree is not meant to give you any knowledge. It’s a signal that gets you into the club. It’s a six-figure cover charge to get you into the bar of life.”

“It’s a virtue signal, and it always has been a virtue signal, but now the virtue signal of a bachelor’s degree is not enough,” he explained. “So then it’s like ‘well this person has a master’s,’ ‘well this person has a Ph.D.,’ you’re now in an arms race of degrees, and the hangover is you pay it off later.”

He explained that there are alternative tracks in life that may lead to more fulfillment and less debt.

“There’s ways to gain experience in life, so you don’t end up six, seven figures in debt,” he noted. “And by the way, nobody’s paying for it. You’re paying for it. That’s something I would go to war for. Cancel debt? No, no, no, no, no. And everybody who paid their debts would be on my side.”

Duffy then turned it over to Jeanine Pirro.

“The average cost of a graduate’s debt is $37,000. A lot of social sciences and communications, art majors make less than $45,000 a year. They can never pay it back,” she said.

“First of all, Jen Psaki is the one who said we have so many jobs available. She says the economy is so good but yet they’re the same people who are talking about maybe getting ready that that student debt,” Pirro railed. “If you can’t afford it, go to a state school. Go to a community college. You don’t have to go to the best school. Get a job. I had a job in college. I had a job in law school. Stop with the nonsense that this namby-pamby ‘you gotta pay my bill.’ I don’t want to pay your bill. Pay your own bill.”

  1. We already have enough entitled children running around (many in government). They all think society owes them.

Remember when JFK said, “Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country.”? You will never hear a Democrat say that ever again.

No wonder they had him shot.

  2. Taxpayers Do Not Want to Pay Someone else Debt, that They Voluntarily Signed Up for! Democrats Need to Watch Out Trying to Buy Votes with Our Money! They Might Want to Recall a Certain Tea Party in Boston!

  3. Hey, I paid for my education. I guess we’ll be getting a check for the money I paid. That should be not just that amount I paid but reflect all inflation factors too. Thank you AOC, I thought an education was a “you bought it, you own it” and had a ” no refund , not possible” written on the label. I hope this doesn’t contain small print about some kind of lobotomy. It’s really staggering how she figured how to do this without anyone paying for it . And how it won’t hurt the country or the colleges and universities and bankrupt them. But then she’s the one with the business degree. And man has she put it to good use, from a miserable bartender figuring the percentage on her tips to a bonafied congresswoman , the perfect representative of her constituents, out there changing the world , one brilliant idea after another. She’s really out that degree of hers to work. It deserves to be free. Isn’t there some kind of award we can give her to match that wonderful gown she wore.

  4. You as an America have the Freedom to make your own choices, that being said the consequences of those choices are yours and yours alone. No one put a gun to your head and forced you to go to collage. You signed the Loan Applications knowing full well that that the mount was $20,000 to $40,000 per year and that after you graduated you woudl have a debt that would be approaching $100,000. Now if you got an Engineering Degree you woudl more than likely walk out of Collage and right into a Good if not Great job. On the other hand if you got a degree in Ancient Lesbian Dance Music I doubt that you will be flooded with job offers. In either case it was your choice; you chose to go to college, You chose to major in a specific field, and more importantly you signed the application for the loan to pay for those choices. I and my Taxes don’t owe you a damn thing. You acquired the debt and therefore you are responsible to pay off that debt.

  5. Part of my BS was paid for by the State of Alaska in a student loan forgiveness program. The loan terms were that I had to get my diploma and then agree to work in the State of Alaska for seven years in my chosen profession. It was a win/win program. My husband and I both took advantage of this program. He got a BS in Environmental Science and I am an Accountant.

    1. LMAO 🤣! Are you that clueless that you’re exactly what they were talking about? AND being required to live in the state for 7 years to boot? 🤣🤣 That sounds exactly what my Romanian friends had to do 30 years ago under communist rule.

  6. I agree with GUTFELD on this issue. I paid mine off a long time ago, and it amazes me that with the schooling AOC and her gang supposedly have, that they seem to have never learned the definition of a “LOAN!” I’m not responsible for your “LOAN” and a “LOAN” is not a “GIFT” from the taxpayers! Pay your own DEBT!

    1. Plus many of these people didn’t use the money for school. They bought cars, paid much higher rents to live off campus instead of dorms, ate most meals out instead of school cafeteria. Taxpayers should never be expected to pay an upcharge for people to receive “Ivy League” schooling. Taxpayers should never have to pay for Gucci when a base model would suffice.

  7. Unless you need a degree for whatever field you are planning to pursue as a career, there is no reason to go to college. If you do need a degree and can’t afford it, there is always the route I took. I went in the service for 3 years, and then the government paid for my education. I went further and reupped so I was going to school while still in, and got paid to take college courses. So there is no reason to forgive any college loans. Those who took debt on, knew there were other choices, and chose not to avail themselves of them. They made the choice, they signed on the line, and now have to pay. Forgiving college loans is going to cost the taxpayers approximately $1.2 TRILLION to give the democrats the Santa Claus look for the elections Let’s go Brandon FJB

    1. PEOPLE PUSHING for this nonsense don’t want to take responsibility, but want a GIFT from the taxpayers! An UNDESERVED GIFT AT THAT! THEY ARE LIKE SOME WELFARE RECIPIENTS, GIVE ME, GIVE ME, GIVE ME! I say learn the definition of the word “LOAN” and pay your “DEBT!”

    2. Exactly, my father couldn’t afford college so he went the ROTC route to pay for his college degree. Then served in the navy, including time in the Korean conflict!
Don’t expect anyone else to pay your way FOR ANYTHING!!!!!!!

  8. This is only one reason why we must have a Civil War. These whining ‘entitled’ pampered bums signed a legal contract and having got what they wanted, don’t want to fulfill their part of the bargain. The most hate-filled, most whining, most illegitimate, most racist, most ignorant, most illiterate, most violent criminal group in the nation (blacks) want ‘reparations’ for things that some centuries dead people did with some other centuries dead people. They can have all the free high-velocity lead injections they want but not a penny of my hard-earned. Lunatics, imbeciles, pedophiles, thieves, traitors, token incompetents, diversity freakazoids are destroying our society and so many of America’s major cities that only Civil War can decide things. Liberals are a deadly cancer which must be excised from the body politic and votes won’t do that. Time to thin out the herd.

  9. I cringe when hearing all the ignats on TV talking about “the value of a college degree”. About how worthless they are. But I got one involving 6 years of chemistry, physics, math, business, engineering, microbiology, and agriculture. It made me a good living. I traveled around the world and the USA. I paid for it my self or got scholarships. Raised 2 kids and am taking care of a great wife. But I could have taken a 4 year degree instead – in social studies and maybe some basket weaving and bitched all my life about how worthless a degree has been. Just like so many other kids for whom 4 years in college is one big party.

  10. Why anyone watches that CIA infiltrated Marxist conditioning outlet for stupid ‘conservatives,’ I have no idea. Sick nation. See for yourselves, think for yourselves. 1776 is the answer to 1984–and we’re WAY past that. You are all slaves now, being conditioned to the new ‘NORMAL’. If voting changed anything, it would be illegal.

  11. Ive got a neighbor whose son was supposedlyeducated via the University of Orlando. Hes suppose to be a teacher of History. Man , did they ever waste their money. Very liberal communist. I called him Adolf and he got mad at me after telling me I didnt have the right to an opinion because I served in the Armed Forces. Point being that the professors of education aregetting paid enormous sums of money and not doing their jobs. Let them pay for the loans , Im sure they can afford it . Not to mention the deans whose bonuses could probably pay for the school debt and the National Debt to boot. After all, they didnt deliver according to their contracts and if you dont produce , then you shouldnt get paid for the job. That should be their fines for pushing CRT on all the students. I guess the teachers are just horny and wanting some tail. That seems to be the only topic they want to teach, except for trashing the USA, which they all seem to be experts at if you give them the lee way to lie. And thats something they could all get an A grade at even without a grading curve.

  12. Let these LAZY Bastards pay thier OWN Bill !! WE all paid ours and now it’s YOUR turn you bunch of PARASITES !
