New York Governor Kathy Hochul stepped in it during the week leading up to Easter, inviting Floridians to her state to get an abortion after blasting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis on Thursday for “smiling from ear to ear” as he signed a pro-life bill that bans abortions after 15 weeks.

“Smiling from ear to ear as he rips away the reproductive rights of Floridians. It’s cruel and despicable. To anyone seeking abortion care, know that you are welcome in New York.” Hochul tweeted on Thursday.

Then she turned around on Good Friday to proclaim she is a Christian.

“Today I join Christians throughout New York and around the world in observing #GoodFriday. Let us be reminded that even in challenging times, hope and light always lie ahead,” she tweeted on the Christian holy day leading up to Easter.

The Florida law goes into effect on July 1. The ban on abortions after 15 weeks is a dramatic change from the current limitation of 24 weeks. The abortion ban does not allow for instances of rape, incest, or human trafficking. But it does allow the termination of a pregnancy if a mother’s life is in danger, to prevent serious injury, or if the fetus has a fatal abnormality.

“We are here today to defend those who can’t defend themselves,” DeSantis proclaimed on Thursday while surrounded by lawmakers, pro-life advocates, and children according to LifeNews.com. “This will represent the most significant protections for life that we have seen in a generation.”

Hochul “was born and raised in a blue-collar Irish Catholic family in Buffalo,” according to her biography on her website. Her stance on abortion appears to hypocritically fly directly in the face of her faith.

Hochul was New York’s lieutenant governor and then took disgraced Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s seat after he resigned. She is the state’s first female governor and is looking to be reelected in this year’s gubernatorial race.

“In New York, we will never let Republicans turn back the clock on reproductive rights,” Hochul also tweeted in February.

Using faith as a cudgel, Hochul accused those who refused to get vaccinated against COVID in New York last year of failing to listen to God.

“All of you — yes, I know you’re vaccinated, you’re the smart ones — but you know there’s people out there who aren’t listening to God … You know who they are,” she remarked at the Christian Cultural Center. “Jesus taught us to love one another,” she said, indicating that people should “show that love” by urging others to get vaccinated.

The New York progressive was ripped not only for supporting abortion but for actively inviting women to terminate the lives of the unborn during Easter week and just before Good Friday:
