With yet another poll indicating that Hispanic Americans are rejecting the far-left Democrat agenda, Ben Domenech provided a series of teachable moments on social media in explaining to out-of-touch liberals, especially the “smart” ones with high SAT scores, along with the “white women’s Instagram coalition,” how this happened.
The co-founder of The Federalist and a Fox News contributor, who is married to Meghan McCain, began the Twitter thread with a pure-and-simple reality check for the blue-check brigade.
“Democrats, I have terrible news for you. Hispanics are Republicans now,” Domenech claimed.
He then gave the left-wing cohort a temporary timeout to process this information: “We’ll give you a minute to think about what you did to make this happen.”
In the epic thread, Domenech was reacting to the latest bit of bad news for Democrats in the run-up to the midterm elections and which suggests that their radical to-do list is just as unappealing to Latinos as it is to any other demographic group.
According to a Quinnipiac poll, President Joe Biden’s approval rating has sunk to a mere 26 percent among Hispanics.

This political realignment appeared to begin with the political ascendancy of Donald Trump and was reflected in, for example, the GOP sweep of all statewide offices in Virginia last November. The GOP is also gaining ground in south Texas.
The pundit then listed the common-sense reasons why pandering Dems, who incorrectly and arrogantly assumed they had a lock on this particular constituency, were wrong.
“Maybe when you made everything about an open border, you were listening to white liberals instead of families and workers. Maybe when you dissed aging Christians for clinging to guns and religion, you didn’t realize you were talking about our parents,” he wrote.

“Maybe when you turned Planned Parenthood into the political holy priesthood, unassailable and unquestionable, you left us behind. Maybe you should have said ‘Latinx‘ and ‘Democratic Socialism’ less, and ‘faith family neighborhood work peace freedom’ more,” he continued.

“Hispanics are Republicans now not because the GOP did such a great job – it’s because Democrats are a party run by Ivy League idiots with Ivy League values,” Domenech concluded.

On Substack, Domenech further explored this theme, implying — as alluded to above — that the establishment GOP and the media hastily assumed that Hispanic Americans were fans of mass immigration:
A candidate who rejected this frame, as Donald Trump did, ultimately performed far better than anyone expected with Hispanics for that very reason. And lower down from the presidential, the performance of GOP politicians who paired their focus on kitchen table concerns with an attitude toward Hispanic voters that felt less like outreach and more like talking to any constituent reaped benefits at the ballot box…
There’s one more aspect of this that should not go unappreciated: The Left’s aggressive shift on culture war issues is absolutely a factor in the Hispanic move to the right. And this is important because it raises the potential that Democrats have exchanged their coalition of the ascendant, the demographic destiny that once was their guiding light, for a coalition of well-educated suburban white women whose cultural priorities look more like Wendy Davis and less like any Hispanic mother.
“The real question for Democrats is whether this White Woman’s Instagram Coalition they’ve created has any place for the pro-life Hispanic mom. If it doesn’t, they’ll be the ones who look like they made the wrong bet,” Domenech declared.
