For liberals, it’s always Trump’s fault, no matter what.
Case in point (among many): Remarks made by former trash TV host Jerry Springer, 78, on SiriusXM satellite radio.
The left-wing host of The Dean Obeidallah Show teed it up for Springer, who was the Democrat mayor of Cincinnati back the day prior to his media career, by asking about whether the antics on the latter’s long-running syndicated television show was a harbinger of the rise of Trump in politics.
“Do you see a connection, do you see a line, between the success of the Jerry Springer Show–which was everywhere, it defined a decade…and the way people look at TV and what people, they let people get away with, do you think that on some level…do you think it contributed to people accepting someone like Donald Trump?,” Obeidallah, who said he was being honest (which is almost always a tell), asked.
“Probably social media more but, yes, there’s no question. The behavior of some of the people on the show is exactly Donald Trump….The reason there’s more respect given to the people who were on my show is they have enough sense not to run for president,” Springer, who has a law degree from Northwestern University, predictably and without evidence replied.
“They’re on the show letting their emotions out, their feelings out; they don’t speak the Queen’s English, they don’t have money, they don’t live in palaces, they aren’t rich and famous. But they have feelings like everybody else, and when they get angry, they probably curse, and they yell and sometimes fight ’cause they don’t have the skills to settle things in different ways,” he continued.
“That’s Trump, but what made Trump unique–the only thing that separates him from the guests on my show–is the fact that he had this delusion of he knew how to run the world and run the country, when, in fact, he knows, he knows nothing about how you run a country, and we paid the price for that. But yeah, of course, there’s similarities except for the issue of ‘gee, I don’t think I ought to be president.'”
Watch:
Many current-events followers would find Springer’s commentary about the Trump’s purported lack of knowledge about running the country ironic given the disaster that is the Biden presidency, which even the Democrat establishment has allegedly concluded.

Presumably a guilty pleasure for many viewers, Springer’s successful TV show, which ran from 1991 to 2018, regularly featured “respectful” guests shouting vulgarities and pummeling each other physically, or trying to, over allegations of adultery and/or paternity as the studio audience eagerly chanted “Jerry, Jerry, Jerry.”
Springer’s political career almost was over before it began, as the far-left Slate news outlet reported in 1998:
“He resigned [from the city council] in 1974 when he was fingered in a vice investigation–he had paid a prostitute with a check (duh). But a year later he ran for council again and won. In 1977 he was elected Cincinnati’s mayor. Springer was an old-fashioned tax-and-spend liberal…After a failed run for Ohio governor, Springer jumped to television…”
Springer also lost a bid for Congress in the Cincinnati area in 1970 and had considered seeking other political offices in Ohio over the years.
Parenthetically, fading SiriusXM radio host and Joe Biden fanboy Howard Stern, who used to invite the 45th president — when he was a real estate mogul and reality TV host — on his show all the time, claimed that “Will Smith and Trump are the same guy.”
