Police are searching for one or more armed robbers who are allegedly responsible for a ghastly triple murder at a west Georgia gun shop/gun range on Friday evening
Responding cops reportedly found the bodies of Lock Stock & Barrel Shooting Range owner Tommy Hawk, 75, his wife, Evelyn, 75, and their grandson, Luke, dead at the scene at around 8 p.m. Luke was apparently helping out at the range during college spring break.
The suspect(s) also reportedly pilfered 40 weapons and the security camera, the absence of the latter likely making the investigation more difficult.
The Hawks had owned the business in the small town of Grantville, Ga, for about 30 years, and the crime has understandably left the community in shock.
“Grantville Police Chief Steve Whitlock said Tommy and Evelyn normally close up shop by around 5:30 p.m. and return home by 6 p.m. and do not have any other employees. When they didn’t return home, their son drove to the shooting range and made the tragic discovery,” Atlanta’s NBC-affiliate 11 Alive, WXIA-TV reported.
The crime is believed to have been committed around closing time. Grantville cops would particularly like to hear from anyone who drove by the range in the early evening and, in so doing, who may have noticed vehicles parked outside other than a white Ford truck and a black Ford Expedition.
Richard Hawk, who happens to be the Coweta County coroner, is the son who reportedly discovered the bodies of his family.
Grantville is located about 50 southwest of Atlanta.
On Facebook, Coweta County Sheriff Lenn Wood, wrote, in part, “Last night, the Hawk Family, the City of Grantville, and the Coweta Community were forever broken and changed by the senseless and tragic event that happened in Grantville…Richard has served faithfully for decades in our law enforcement community. He’s a committed public servant and moreover a personal friend of mine. I have and will continue to provide every resource available to speak justice for the Hawk family….”

Law enforcement agencies such as Georgia Bureau of Investigation as well as the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are also investigating, and detectives are requesting the public’s help in the probe.
Authorities have offered a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction of the alleged perpetrators.

Chief Whitlock told local media that “I’ve been here eight years, and we’ve never had anything like this. Right now, I’m just speechless. I have a hard time talking about it because they were friends of ours. I’ve known them for a long time.”
“It’s really hard because we don’t have stuff like this here in Grantville. This is a nice, quiet little town,” the chief added.

When caught. Don’t bring them in alive.
Is it unreasonable to mention that possibly this could have been done by illegals in our Country (?) Unvetted illegals that are already violent offenders. This is so sad.
Also, brash enough to hold up a experienced gun trained owner who was most likely concealed carrying.
Illegal leakers or nwords!
I’m thinking someone that knew the couple, knew the shop. Someone the shop owner didn’t draw his weapon on, someone that knew where the security camera was.
