Daily Wire writer Matt Walsh is releasing a new documentary called “What Is A Woman?” and a transgender leftist Ph.D. candidate decided to provide a definition to the conservative pundit, that didn’t hold up to some commonsense criticism.
“A woman is anyone who identifies as a woman. Boom. Done,” Ph.D. candidate at UC Santa Cruz Eli Erlick tweeted.
The activist identifies as she/her. She researches political philosophy, social movements, and trans studies which evidently qualifies her to answer Walsh’s simple question of “What is a woman?” even though she is not a biologist.
The answer appears to apply to everyone except Matt Walsh, who she contends cannot “simply” identify as a woman if he chooses to do so because he lacks an “internal state of being.” That arguably negates the whole premise for those who decide they are a different gender when they get up in the morning.

“Sure, we can get into the semantics of what ‘identifies’ means (the next step of Matt’s question). Identification isn’t simply a pronouncement but also an internal state of being. This is why Matt Walsh can’t simply proclaim ‘I am a woman’ and be one,” Erlick argues.
She seems to be attempting to define what a woman is, but sadly skipped defining “identifies” in her flawed logical progression on the subject.
“Reactionaries will then follow that response by claiming ‘then womanhood is meaningless.’ But it isn’t: womanhood is a historical category that has shifted with time. We’re simply explaining the current iteration of its meaning,” Erlick contended.

Walsh appeared on Fox News host Jesse Watters’s show on Thursday to discuss his new documentary that has caused leftists such as Erlick to have a mental implosion of sorts.

“What was the most shocking answer that you encountered when you asked a basic question?” Watters asked the best-selling author.
“The shocking answer is the non-answer,” Walsh replied. “When you realize that … this is what they talk about all of the time, they’ve made it their life’s calling, they’ve also convinced, somehow, society to take these ideas seriously, and then when you start asking questions about it … you realize, there’s nothing going on here, there’s nothing underneath the surface.”
“What we discovered is, gender ideology — even though it’s taken over society and it’s become totally ubiquitous — it collapses under the slightest bit of pressure,” he asserted. “A couple of basic questions, and it crumbles right in front of you.”
They are afraid of the question, which is why we have to keep asking it. #WhatIsAWoman

It's terrible that #WhatIsAWoman is trending. The question makes people very uncomfortable. Please do not continue to tweet #WhatIsAWoman, causing #WhatIsAWoman to trend even more. I ask you all to stop this now, please. #WhatIsAWoman https://t.co/xibkNa4oHW pic.twitter.com/GayjBTypXO

“I sought out experts in every field in the gender theory world — doctors, therapists, psychiatrists, psychologists, politicians, activists, and transgender people themselves — and I put the question to them directly,” Walsh said at the Daily Wire. “I found — and you’ll see in the film — their arguments collapsed not with hammer blows or a hard push, but with simple questions, because the core of gender ideology is hollow.”
Radical gender ideology “has mounted pressure and cancelation campaigns against companies and individuals to scare them into adopting their agenda without ever having to give a coherent argument,” a Daily Wire press release stated. Walsh’s documentary “allows their hollow arguments to speak for themselves — and come crashing down right before the viewers’ very eyes.”
Erlick received a stomping on social media for her selective definition of a woman:
This statement: "Matt Walsh can't just proclaim he's a woman and be one" invalidates the entire basis of trans ideology.
If I can deny that a trans woman is a woman because I don't think that person is authentic enough, then there is no reason to change any language or behavior. https://t.co/hR62wuVm3W

Love to know how we're supposed to assess thus "internal state of being" when deciding what prison bus to put people on after court, you absolute melon https://t.co/Tu05xEqwJh

Since people's internal states are not subject to verification Matt Walsh can simply declare himself a woman and no one has any insight into the truth of that and therefore can't fight it. https://t.co/PPFImKKG2J

By this reasoning, there is no way to verify whether Matt Walsh has this "internal state of being" apart from what he says, yet she authoritatively declares he is not a woman.
Which, of course, is exactly what *we're* saying. Men can't declare themselves women. https://t.co/m3gaNTaVsx

Translation: Only liberals can identify as a woman and therefore “be” a woman. https://t.co/NP0VkuisQW

Exactly how do you confirm someone's internal state of being @EliErlick? How do you know, quantifiably, that when @MattWalshBlog says "I'm a woman" that the internal state of being doesn't exist? https://t.co/y4Ig2yxXk7
— The Okie Papist (Not a biologist) (@okiepapist) March 24, 2022
You don't know what Matt Walsh's "internal state of being" is, and that's why this entire attempt at disinformation fails. https://t.co/PpVwoozAR5

Who determines which pronouncements are of "an internal state of being"?
How would a confused individual parse out authentic feelings of being vs. inauthentic? What's the standard?
If a hypermasculine man authentically feels that he should be called a woman, is he one? https://t.co/ihjHnmB088
