Fox Nation host Tomi Lahren joined the hosts of “Fox and Friends First” Tuesday to weigh in on a recent survey that indicated 72 percent of Americans who quit their jobs during the so-called “Great Resignation” now regret their decision as rampant inflation tightens its stranglehold on their lives.

Included in that figure are people who opted for unemployment benefits and government handouts as well as those who started a new job but found it to be not at all what they expected. Seven out of ten employees revealed they were surprised to learn their new roles or companies were different from what they were led to believe during the interview process, according to the survey of more than 2,500 millennial and Gen Z job seekers by The Muse.

The Muse CEO Kathryn Minshew described the trend as “shift shock.”

“They’ll join a new company thinking it’s their dream job and then there’s a reality check,” Minshew told FOX Business.

“It used to be that if you started a new job and didn’t like it, you needed to stay for one or two years to avoid a black mark on your resume,” she said. “But we’ve seen this really interesting shift in perceptions.”

Instead, the survey showed that 80 percent of millennials and Generation Z employees would quit a new job after six months if they weren’t satisfied, with a startling one in five job seekers admitting they would quit within a month.

Lahren believes it all comes back to government policies enabling apathy among the populace and dependence on the taxpayer dole, the most insidious of which being the heavy-handed policy decisions at all levels of government in answer to the COVID-19 pandemic.

She argued the acceptance of those monies in lieu of employment is proving to have unintended but very predictable consequences for countless recipients as inflation continues its upward trek.

Yeah, do they really regret giving up their jobs, or they regret the fact that they don’t have those expanded unemployment benefits? … When the government trains people to stay at home, and they said that’s our patriotic duty to stay home and to close their businesses, and that the government will take care of you, you train people to be drunk on entitlements, you train people to be lazy.

We incentivized laziness for too long. And it really forced a lot of people to say, ‘You know what? I don’t really think I need this job.’

Well, now with everything getting more expensive inflation through the roof, gas prices are unaffordable, those very people are going to wish that they had kept those jobs and wish that they had had their dedication to hard work ethic maintained.

But the government is responsible for this because the government trained people to be lazy, so what do you expect?

During the segment, Lahren and hosts Todd Piro and Ainsley Earhardt also touched on recent news that Amazon has decided to relocate some 1,800 employees from downtown Seattle out of concern for their safety amid the worsening pestilence of violent crime and lawlessness now common to Democrat-run cities across the country.

An Amazon spokesman provided a statement on the move to the Daily Mail that read, “Given recent incidents near Third and Pine, we’re providing employees currently at that location with alternative office space elsewhere,” he said.  “We are hopeful that conditions will improve and that we will be able to bring employees back to this location when it is safe to do so.”

Additionally, the segment included some brief commentary on the war in Ukraine. Lahren expressed that in the face of top-down government restrictions on daily life because of COVID measures, the U.S. cannot be counted on to spread liberty and protect freedom around the world if its own house is in disarray and individual rights are trampled under the hobnailed boot of authoritarianism.
