Rasmussen Poll: Inflation is top issue to voters ahead of the 2022 midterms, Covid not even in top 5

While President Joe Biden may be drawing praise for his handling of the Ukraine-Russia crisis along with the vanquishing of COVID which has miraculously disappeared from the headlines, a new poll could be a bad omen for Democrats who are set to face a restive electorate in November.

Biden may be basking in the glow of a brief respite from the attention being paid to the cascading series of disasters that have taken place on his watch due to the hostilities on the other side of the world but Americans continue to be more concerned with matters on the home front, especially the crushing inflation that has been gnawing away at their bank accounts as well as the crime wave that Democrats enabled after the unfortunate death of George Floyd.

According to the poll from Rasmussen, the Russian invasion of Ukraine is not a high priority with voters, and neither war with Russia nor COVID even place in the top 5 when it comes to issues that actually matter to real Americans outside of the D.C. Beltway and the leftist media echo chambers.

Whether the media will be able to successfully gaslight Americans into swallowing the excuse that gas prices which were already skyrocketing before Vladimir Putin even invaded his neighboring country are all his fault remains to be seen, and the just-released Consumer Price Index for February showed that prices are up 7.9% from a year ago and accelerating at the fastest pace since January of 1982 with March’s numbers set to be dramatically worse.

In another problem for Biden and his fellow Democrats, lagging just behind inflation and violent crime in the Rasmussen survey is election integrity.

According to the first paragraph from the Rasmussen reports story, “More than half of voters believe cheating affected the 2020 election and an overwhelming majority say the issue of election integrity will be important in the midterm elections.”

“The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 83% of Likely U.S. Voters believe the issue of election integrity will be important in this year’s congressional elections, including 62% who say the issue will be Very Important. Only 14% don’t think election integrity will be important in the November elections,” the report continues, a concern that should put Democrats and their media partners on notice that the mysterious irregularities of the 2020 election haven’t been forgotten.

Rounding out the top five areas of voter concern are school issues, which are all but certainly driven by critical race theory and radical gender indoctrination in classrooms, followed by illegal immigration as Biden’s open borders policies continue to be a major issue for Americans.

COVID-19 comes in sixth in another ominous sign for Democrats who have gained much from exploiting the virus to advance their agenda and bully their enemies into submission. And while the diminished concern is in many ways a good thing for Biden who was unable to defeat the pathogen as he vowed, it deprives the party of what has been the biggest hammer in the toolbox.

Speeches over the last few days from both Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have shown that when it comes to kitchen table issues that really matter to people, they are completely out of touch.

On Friday, Biden sought to bolster morale at the Democratic National Committee’s winter meeting when he told the crowd, “Look, coming out of the State of the Union, we are in the strongest position we’ve been in in months,” he said. “We have a record – a record to be proud of, an agenda that addresses the biggest concerns here in America, in people’s lives; the message that resonates.”

In a Saturday follow-up to her boss, Vice President Kamala Harris spoke at the same gathering and served up the GOP’s upcoming campaign ads on a silver platter.

“I know, and I believe we know, when we show what we have accomplished just in a year, and when we show it is because the American people voted, I believe we will meet the moment again but that is our task,” she said. “Our task is to show people that, in many ways, they got what they ordered. Right?”

“They said this is what they wanted, they stood in line, they took time from work. It was difficult and a lot of what they demanded, they got,” Harris said.

It’s hard to imagine a greater detachment from the reality-based world but such is life inside of the Democratic Party bubble which is protected from inconvenient truths by a media force field.
