The View’s Sunny Hostin says criticism of VP Harris’ humiliating Poland presser is ‘based in racism’

“The View” co-host Sunny Hostin continued her trend of selective outrage and hyper-racial analysis Friday during a discussion on Vice President Kamala Harris’ floundering missteps in Europe.

The clip of Harris’ joint press conference with Polish President Andrzej Duda aired before the co-hosts discussion showed her seemingly stymied by the question asked from a reporter or by the process of having a joint press conference. Harris looked to Duda with an expression akin to panic before experiencing a fit of laughter.

“The laugh got them,” co-host Joy Behar said, suggesting Republicans made fun of former secretary of state Hillary Clinton’s laugh, but never took issue with former Vice President Mike Pence’s laugh. Co-host Stephanie Grisham, former White House spokeswoman for Melania Trump, weakly tried to salvage the discussion offering that criticism had more to do with Harris being “a little bit underprepared” when asked questions.

“What it is is that they constantly question the qualifications of black women,” Hostin declared matter-of-factly, “and that’s why people are saying that she’s unprepared.”

“You can disagree,” Hostin went on before unironically stating, “but that’s the truth of it. And so this is based in racism.”

“This is based in misogyny,” Hostin further claimed despite the fact that her female colleague is the one she is disputing on this being an issue of Harris’ level of preparedness.

That is not an uncommon move by Hostin either as she has previously critiqued CNN’s Van Jones, a black man, for providing “racial cover” for President Donald Trump after expressing support for the president’s efforts on criminal justice reform.

“People in the black community don’t trust you anymore,” Hostin said in her self-appointed capacity as ambassador. Similarly, she has gone on the record disparaging others over superficial characteristics in circumstances that did not reflect on the position of the government on the global stage.

Just this week she referred to former First Lady Melania Trump as claiming “to speak several languages…” before adding “And one of those is English?” Clearly, Hostin was suggesting because of her accent that Trump is not proficient in English after accusing her of being a liar.

Hostin went on to call the laugh “much ado about nothing…What they’re talking about is her laugh. She was there as an emissary really, and she wanted to reassure the NATO allies that – that as Russia steps up its attacks on Ukraine that the United States was going to be supportive.”

However, Harris quickly followed up her demonstration of insecurity later in her European visit when she did the exact same move with Romania President Klaus Iohannis during their joint press conference Friday.

After returning home, Harris spoke at the Democratic National Committee in Washington D.C. and implied that Ukraine was a member of NATO, a fact that is part of the reason the conflict in Ukraine is currently underway.

Hostin will likely continue to believe that Harris is “prepared, she’s seasoned. Abroad she gets wonderful marks across the board, but this is just something that I think happens to women and especially black women.”
