A majority of Democrats think so little of America that they would cut and run if the nation was invaded, at least that’s the opinion expressed by a former top government official whose remarks were supported by a recent poll that should be an eye-opener .
Chad Wolf who was the acting Secretary of Homeland Security during the Trump administration appeared on Fox News where he discussed the crisis in Ukraine as well as the anti-Americanism of the political left, a sentiment so strong that most do not believe that America is worth defending.
During his appearance on the latest edition of “Lawrence Jones Cross Country,” Wolf referenced the shocking poll from Quinnipiac University that only 40 percent of Democrats would take up arms to defend their own country against an invading foreign enemy as embattled Ukrainians have done to protect their homeland from Vladimir Putin’s military forces.
After discussing the disastrous foreign policy of President Joe Biden, notably the abandonment of over $80 billion in military equipment in Afghanistan that fell into the hands the Taliban that could have been sent to Ukraine well before Putin’s tanks roared across the border, Jones asked the former DHS secretary for his reaction to the embarrassing poll.
“I want to get your reaction to another poll right here because I found it very interesting here,” Jones said, “showed that the majority of Americans would fight back and arm themselves, stay and fight if, you know America was invaded like the Ukrainian people, but when you break it down by party, this got me, 68 percent of the GOP said they would stay and fight but only 40 percent of Democrats said they would fight, are you surprised by that Mr. Secretary?”
Wolf replied, “Well I am, I’m not surprised by that first number, I think the vast majority of Americans would stay and fight but when you break it down along party lines I agree with you that a majority of Democrats would not stay and fight and I think what this tells you is they don’t believe America is worth defending at the end of the day, these are individuals, many of them that condemn America, believe it was conceived in sin,”
“They don’t fight for our history, they don’t want to defend our heritage, they don’t want to defend our workers, and they don’t want to defend our borders at the end of the day so, unfortunately, when you think about it that way, I guess the poll is not that surprising, but it should be, it should wake up a lot of folks,” he said.
Jones responded, “We’re in deep trouble if that’s the case,”
Before providing the breakdown by party on the “terrible hypothetical that would put them in the shoes of the Ukrainians,” the poll reads, “As the world witnesses what is happening to Ukraine, Americans were asked what they would do if they were in the same position as Ukrainians are now: stay and fight or leave the country?”
That so many Democrats would feel that America is unworthy of defending is a sad statement on these troubled times but not exactly surprising when considering that much of the political left believes that the country was founded on the principles of slavery and the exploitation of black people, have so little regard for history that statues are being torn down and that the younger generation has embraced socialism.
