A day after the Florida Senate triggered leftists by passing the Parental Rights in Education bill, the members of the Florida House followed suit by passing their own triggering bill.
Passed in the House on Wednesday, S.B. 524 will create a “15-person Office of Election Crimes and Security within the Department of State” to essentially serve as an election police unit, according to Florida Politics.
The new office will reportedly investigate voter fraud complaints, increase “the penalties on organizations that violate election registration laws from $1,000 to $50,000” and ask “supervisors of elections to maintain voter roll lists annually instead of every two years.”
If signed into law by Gov. Ron DeSantis — the bill already passed through the Senate last week — Florida will become the first state in the country to boast its own election fraud police unit.
The bill was reportedly sponsored in the Florida House by state Rep. Daniel Perez:
Today, the Florida House passed SB 524 to help protect the integrity of Florida’s elections. There’s nothing more foundational to our democracy than free and fair elections and I was pleased to join @hollygregory33 to talk more about this important bill. https://t.co/uikgLhEzaI pic.twitter.com/yTKfFnHbAs

The bill’s passage has already triggered outrage, with establishment media outlets rushing to point out that election fraud is purportedly very rare and link the bill to former President Donald Trump’s grievances about the 2020 election.
“Voter fraud is rare and generally detected. An Associated Press investigation of every potential case of voter fraud in the six battleground states disputed by Trump — Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — found fewer than 475 cases out of 25.5 million ballots cast,” The Washington Post complained.
The establishment outlet added, “There is also consensus among election officials and experts that there was no fraud that could have impacted results in the last presidential election.”
It’s not clear whether the press realizes that terrorism is also “rare.”
Florida Democrats have also been crying foul:
Yesterday, the Florida House passed yet another suppressive voting and elections bill- SB524. This bill created an election police and carved out Pinellas county for a have another election for the county commission- which violated the Fla. constitution. Here’s my debate: pic.twitter.com/ayP4jkosaW

Public trust in our elections is being systematically undermined for political gain. Creating an Office of Election Crimes and Security will make this worse. SB524 is dangerous, unnecessary, costs taxpayers – and does nothing to address the real-life challenges facing Floridians. pic.twitter.com/3JxFcU4mdS

Conservatives have for their part long raised concerns over whether voter fraud is “rare” only because so little effort has been made to root it out.
“Voter fraud is real. Voter suppression is not. Voter fraud is real whether you want to acknowledge it or not — whether the liberal media wants to admit it or not. People are trying to game the system,” state Rep. Blaise Ingoglia has reportedly maintained.
“Election law is a highly specialized form of law and investigating it is very time consuming. That’s why having dedicated people who understand election law and will go out and spend the time to investigate it is so very important.”
Speaking with St. Petersburg station Bay News 9 before Wednesday’s vote, Perez, the bill’s House sponsor, meanwhile argued that even if fraud is perhaps “rare,” it doesn’t hurt to make certain “elections are as secure as possible” anyway.
“We’ve seen that in today’s society, fraud has definitely ticked up when we’re talking about elections and the integrity of the elections. Here in Florida, we’ve been very fortunate that since Gov. Ron DeSantis took charge, we have gone in the right direction to make sure that our elections are as secure as possible. But you can never be as secure to the point where fraud would not exist,” he said.
“And so what we’ve done is we have put resources behind these new offices of integrity towards the elections process to make sure that local governments, local supervisor of elections, have all the resources necessary in order for us to assist them in investigating the fraud or potential fraud that people are seeing back at home during their elections process.”
S.B. 524’s passage came a day after the Florida Senate passed the Parental Rights in Education bill. Though the bill simply prohibits teachers from teaching sex/gender-related matters in an age-inappropriate way by, among other things, requiring teachers to keep parents abreast of the sorts of discussions they’re having with students, Democrats have smeared it as being anti-LGBT.
The impetus for introducing and passing the bill was the trend of teachers nationwide indoctrinating their students in radical LGBT ideology behind the backs of the kids’ parents.
In California, an Asian child who’s 12 was encouraged by her teacher to pick a new gender without first speaking with her parents. The child reportedly eventually wound up suicidal:
Just ran into a friend who’s kid was told by a Palo Alto school she can pick a “gender” at 12 without discussing w her parents. She chose to be a male. 🤔She is deeply depressed, resorted to cutting herself & has had suicidal ideation. Her Indian parents, grandparents & https://t.co/o6ZCzG9HqJ

one other relative are falling apart. Therapy has not really helped. I don’t get all this stuff, but do feel that schools MUST involve at least one parent or grandparent in such important matters. They are all quite liberal & support LGBTQ rights.

Also in California, the state’s top teachers’ union was caught secretly spying on students and recruiting them into LGBT clubs.
