Nancy Pelosi proudly says she told President Zelenskyy that Billie Jean King sends her regards

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sparked a mock-fest on social media for her message to Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

With his country besieged by neighboring Russia as President Vladimir Putin continues his military onslaught across the border, it’s certainly doubtful Zelenskyy was comforted by Pelosi’s inane message that tennis icon Billie Jean King had sent him her “regards.”

“When I spoke to President Zelenskyy, I said, Billie Jean King sends you her regards,” Pelosi said as she spoke with reporters on Wednesday.

King touted her earlier visit Wednesday to the U.S. Capitol in a tweet where the feminist activist had been in attendance for a celebration of the 50th anniversary of Title IX. The federal law was passed in 1972 and “prohibits sex-based discrimination in any school or other education program that receives funding from the federal government.”

Team USA will reportedly be hosting Ukraine with a spot in the 2022 Billie Jean King Cup Finals next spring.

Pelosi’s head-scratching boast about passing on Billie Jean King’s greetings to the beleaguered Zelenskyy understandably caught plenty of attention on Twitter.
