U.S. citizens are willingly placing their own lives on the line by volunteering for the Ukrainian military to assist in the fight against Russia.
More than 3,000 applications have been received and several hundred volunteers have already landed on Ukrainian soil, a government official with the Ukrainian embassy in Washington D.C. speaking on the condition of anonymity told Military Times. The defense official noted that the numbers included many military veterans although he did not know the exact number.
The volunteers will likely join the ranks of the “International Legion of Territorial Defense of Ukraine” that Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy created last week to help the eastern European country fend off it’s Russian attackers.

It has been reported that in total there are around 16,000 foreign fighters currently en route to Ukraine.
“Ukraine is already greeting foreign volunteers. (The) first 16,000 are already on their way to protect freedom and life for us, and for all,” President Zelenskyy said.
President Zelensky this morning said foreign fighters have begun to arrive in Ukraine to help battle the Russians. “Ukraine is already greeting foreign volunteers. (The) first 16,000 are already on their way to protect freedom and life for us, and for all,” he said.

The defense official stressed that Ukraine is primarily looking for combat-trained volunteers and “documents confirming military service or work with law enforcement agencies and participation in combat” are required to join the legion.
“We are asking for trained people to come,” said a Ukraine official. “We don’t have time for training.”
A former Navy SEAL turned CIA offered up some advice on SANDBOXX for those considering joining the fight.
“You aren’t Rambo,” he wrote under the name Frumentarius.
“If you are determined to go, be professional, responsible, and realistic in your expectations,” Frumentarius wrote. “Follow the Ukrainian government’s advice about how to officially register, and do not go there telling them where and how you want to participate in the fighting.”
“They will place you in whatever capacity they need you, and wherever they need you most. You are not Rambo, there to single-handedly slay Russians and post your selfies. You will be part of a military machine that is under extreme stress, and you need to seamlessly integrate into that system to be an effective part of it,” he added.
But not everyone is eager to take up arms for Ukraine.
UFC fighter Bryce Mitchell said he’s “not going nowhere to fight none of these wars for these politicians,” but if the war comes to American soil he will “dig his boots in” and fight for what he loves.
Mitchell is disturbed by the political corruption in the area. “You got [President Joe] Biden and his son making a s–t ton of money,” by using U.S. tax dollars to bribe the Ukrainian government which he called “treasonous.”
