‘He sort of believed me’: Trump overheard detailing his threat to Putin in call with golfer John Daly

Social media is buzzing after a recording of a phone call between former President Donald J. Trump and PGA golfer John Daly in which the topic of foreign policy came up.

During the conversation on the current state of affairs with Russia’s invasion of neighboring Ukraine as well as the idea that communist China could also invade Taiwan, Trump made it clear that neither Vladimir Putin or Xi Jinpeng would dare to make such moves while he was president.

While leftists and establishment travelers have seized on Trump’s referring to Putin as a “friend” in the latest attempt to exhume the corpse of the Russiagate conspiracy theory, the real story of the call between the two should be that the former and perhaps future POTUS put both leaders on warning of severe consequences for any rogue actions.

In the video of the speakerphone call recorded on Daly’s end that was first posted to the @nopopsgolf Instagram account, Trump said that he told Putin that if he stepped out of line that Moscow would be bombed, a threat that appears to have worked considering that Russian tanks didn’t roll across the border until Joe Biden was in the White House.

“They’re all saying, ‘Oh, he’s a nuclear power’ it’s like they’re afraid of him,” Trump said.  “You know, he was a friend of mine, I got along great with him, I say, ‘Vladimir, if you do it, we’re hitting Moscow’ I said, ‘we’re gonna hit Moscow’ and’, like 5 percent, 10 percent, that’s all you need,” noting that a bluff was a sufficient deterrent.

“He never did it during my time, John, you know,” Trump added.  “We’re all talking about it, he didn’t do this during the last four years because he knew he couldn’t,” a veiled shot at Biden that suggests that the Kremlin kingpin views him as weak.

Daly noted that Trump was also to keep a choke chain on China, “It’s funny how Xi didn’t bother you either.”

Trump replied, “Yeah, no, Xi didn’t bother me. I told him the same thing, you, that’ll be next, you know, that’s gonna be next, Taiwan will be next, you won’t have any computer chips, they’ll blow them off the face of the Earth.”

While the Daly call has received much attention, Trump’s remarks at a weekend event for Republican donors will also keep the America first president in the headlines, speaking at the retreat in New Orleans, Trump renewed his criticism of the NATO “paper tiger,” an alliance that he was highly critical of during his presidency.

“Are all of these nations going to stand by and watch perhaps millions of people be slaughtered as the onslaught continues?” Trump according to CBS News which credited an unnamed source,  “At what point do countries say, ‘No, we can’t take this massive crime against humanity?’ We can’t let it happen. We can’t let it continue to happen.”

Trump also joked with the donors about the conflict, saying that “the U.S. should put the “put the Chinese flag” on F-22 fighter jets and “bomb the s***” out of Russia,”

“And then we say, China did it,” leading to laughter according to the anonymous source, “Then they start fighting with each other, and we sit back and watch.”

His reported remarks came the day after former VP Mike Pence spoke at the same event where he parroted Democrat talking points by seeming to suggest that Trump was a Putin apologist.

Pence has been positioning himself as an alternative candidate to his former boss in 2024, a signal that the establishment wing of the GOP would muck up what could be a slam dunk election against the deeply unpopular Biden rather than allow Trump a second term.
