Following in the clueless footsteps of White House press secretary Jen Psaki who asserted that skyrocketing gas prices are Russia’s fault, out-of-touch wealthy elitist actor George Takei tweeted that Americans paying higher prices was worth it to punish President Vladimir Putin.
“Americans: We can endure higher prices for food and gas if it means putting the screws to Putin. Consider it a patriotic donation in the fight for freedom over tyranny,” Takei stated in his best “Let them eat cake!” voice.
The response to that bit of blustery nonsense was less than kind to the aging actor. He was summarily blasted for his lefty posturing.
PolitiBunny on Twitter started the ball rolling, “George: This only makes sense if you think Russia began to invade Ukraine in Jan of 21. Paying more for gas and food while America pays Russia more for oil is not a patriotic donation.”

Another bluntly nailed it on Twitter, “Says the rich guy.”

The dragging continued in fine fashion as another user pummeled Takei over his take, “Guy worth at least $14 million lecturing poor Americans on ‘sacrifice’ is rich. No pun intended.”

Federalist writer Anna James Zeiglar pointed out the parroting of sentiments from the left, writing, “I saw this tweet last night, & it sits with me still; it is the same attitude used to justify shutting down businesses indefinitely, keeping people from dying loved ones, & stealing years of childhood, & the ones clamoring for the “sacrifice” sacrifice nothing.”

“Doing without for thee, but not for me” seems to be a recurring theme here.
Another came up with a solution, “Americans: Just stop being poor.”

And yet another pointed out the dichotomy of what patriotism meant under former President Donald Trump versus President Joe Biden, tweeting, “Rich celebs under Trump: Patriotism is white supremacy. Rich celebrities under Biden: Patriotism is not being able to afford anything. Well, *you* not being able to afford anything, serfs.”

The mantra from the left used to be that higher prices were the fault of greedy corporations. Now, it’s Russia’s fault and Americans need to do their duty and pay up, or else they’re all Putin-loving white supremacists. Funny how that works.

Many more chimed in on Takei and his less-than-credible moral authority paired with his skewed form of patriotism:
If George Takei and Making Sense ever come into contact with one another, they will mutually annihilate with an explosive force that could level a city.

The liberal disdain for the poor in this country is unconscionable.

Hey George, when was the last time you worried about filling your tank or pantry?
— Punished Donut (@BKRY69) March 5, 2022
Are you gonna help feed us, George? I live on disability and can’t afford it.

The definition of trading your humanity for patriotism. George will be fine with higher food and gas prices, he’s worth $14 million. The poor and lower working-class in both countries want no part in wars, especially if it’s gonna add to the financial stress they already feel.
