A heartwrenching video surfaced on Monday from Ukraine’s armed forces of Russians allegedly hitting a minivan with a father and son in it, mortally wounding the father and two of their German shepherds as the son cries out in horror and begs his father not to die.

The minivan the father and son were in was forced to pull over after encountering a Russian convoy. As the son told his father to reverse course, the Russians opened fire on them.

“Get out and lie down!” the son shouted at his father, Oleh Bulavenko. “Can you hear me? Get back and duck to the right.”

As the vehicle they were in was hit with gunfire, you can hear the dogs whimpering in pain after being hit.

The son bailed from the car onto the side of the road but his father was forced to exit the vehicle in the road making him a target. As the son crawled around the back of the car, he saw his father in the road.

“Dad! Dad!” he cried out. “Are you still there? Hang in there!”

He tells his father to stay down. The man then attempts to sit up and look at his wounds.

“Dad, f***! Why?” the son yells.

“My foot is torn off,” the father says as he lies in a pool of blood bleeding out from his wounds.

The son courageously dragged his father into the undergrowth desperately trying to save him to no avail. “Please don’t die, I’m begging you,” the son begs his dying father.

The attack allegedly took place just outside Kyiv. It shows the minivan covered in bullet holes. They were reportedly trying to rescue their three dogs after fleeing their home.

Some pictures of the atrocity show the bloody body of a dog half-in and half-out of the van. There are also photos of a German shepherd hiding in a ditch next to what appears to be a dead body. Two of the dogs were ripped apart by gunfire.

“Russian soldiers have killed Ukrainian civilians and nearly all of their dogs,” one clip states. “It’s very important to document all of Russia’s war crimes in Ukraine.”

The footage was originally released by Radio Free Europe.

Russian President Vladimir Putin blamed the incident on “gangster” Ukrainian leaders and accused them of using “human shields.” He asserted in an address that was the real reason so many civilians had been killed by his troops’ invasion of Ukraine, according to the Daily Mail.

There have been reports of Russian forces indiscriminately bombing towns, cities, schools, hospitals, nuclear power plants, and homes while shooting unarmed civilians trying to flee the country.

On Thursday Putin justified his war crimes by stating, “The fact that we are fighting neo-Nazis is proved by how the hostilities are going, nationalist neo-Nazi’s units are using foreign mercenaries from the Middle East. Also, they use civilians as human shields, hiding behind their backs and we have facts, pictures of how they deploy heavy weapons in residential areas.”

“That’s how gangsters act, from the kindergartens, from hospitals, they put their guns, tanks, cannons and they are taking foreign citizens as hostages from thousands of students studying in Ukraine colleges,” Putin charged.

He also alleged that approximately 3,000 Indian students were taken as hostages by Ukrainian “neo-Nazis” units.

“They kept more than 3,000 Indian citizens as hostages, including 576 people in Sumy. Neo-Nazis opened fire at Chinese students who wanted to leave Kharkiv, two of them were wounded,” claimed Putin.

No such incident has been reported by Indian authorities.

“We have not received any reports of any hostage situation regarding any student. We have requested for the support of the Ukrainian authorities in arranging special trains for evacuating students from Kharkiv and neighboring areas to the western part of the country,” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Arindam Bagchi stated according to ThePrint.
