A spokesperson for Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) took pollster Frank Luntz to the woodshed Saturday over his recent pitch pertaining to the invasion of Ukraine.
Luntz took to social media to make a public pitch for backing a trip to occupied Ukraine to conduct a poll. His plea declared that his objective is to bring their voices to the United States.
“Innocent Ukrainians are dying by the hundreds every day. I want to bring their voices to the American people,” he tweeted.

Will any news organization send me to Ukraine or Eastern Europe to conduct focus groups? 🇺🇦

However, the pollster, who has been repeatedly called out for his connections to major liberal corporations, didn’t leave the matter there. He carried on to suggest his intention has more to do with his own financial gain.
“Will any news organization send me to Ukraine or Eastern Europe to conduct focus groups?” Luntz asked. For a man who regularly appears on cable news networks to share the results of his “focus groups” it’s difficult to imagine Luntz needed to reach out publicly to get backing for Ukrainian polling. If his objective was to ingratiate himself using the suffering of a war-torn nation, he failed miserably.
Christina Pushaw, press secretary for Gov. DeSantis, took to Twitter to call out Luntz for his shameless profiteering .
“War profiteers are the scum of the earth,” Pushaw replied to Luntz, matter-of-factly. “Especially if they are also Big Pharma opioid profiteers.”

Pushaw recently noted that she “spent a lot of time in Ukraine.” In addition to doing field research in Kyiv for her graduate thesis, Pushaw worked as a political consultant with specialties in media and communications for Georgian and Ukrainian politicians and businesses
Her reference to “Big Pharma” is a callback to accusations levied against Luntz that he has used his polling to spin favor or, as Tucker Carlson put it, “toadying for big corporations.” In particular, Luntz had been linked to Purdue Pharma, the manufacturing of OxyContin, which has been blamed for furthering the opioid epidemic through manufacture of the highly addictive painkiller.
The shots taken against Luntz are a continuation of a volley that Pushaw had loosed upon the pollster after he attempted to make a false equivalency between breast cancer and COVID. DeSantis had made a statement in January about the inanity of testing as a means to find out if you were sick, something people had not done before.
Luntz tried to counter DeSantis posting a link to the governor’s wife, Casey, who was diagnosed with breast cancer, discussing how she received that diagnosis, with what was clearly meant to be a burn stating, “Mammograms, among other things.”
Are you seriously suggesting that everyone should get daily or weekly mammograms, regardless of risk factors or symptoms? Because that is insane and would only end up depriving care to those who truly could benefit from it.

Pushaw fired back at how ludicrous Luntz’s comparison was and further asserted as the sparring continued that “Mass asymptomatic testing for airborne respiratory viruses has never been a thing before.”
The quote that was getting tweeted was about an airborne respiratory virus, which is obvious if you watched 10 seconds of the clip. Mass asymptomatic testing for airborne respiratory viruses has never been a thing before. Stop gaslighting us.

Luntz tried to defend himself proclaiming his belief in science and that he is, “trying to save the lives of your family and friends.” That “belief” prompted Pushaw to share the “cheat sheet” that Luntz had compiled to make sure left-wing organizations were using preferred language to manipulate the public to accepting their policies.
Absolutely despicable @FrankLuntz. How much do they pay you to manipulate Americans into "compliance" and destroy the fabric of society? pic.twitter.com/KHb4dO6IVc

Or as the CEO of the de Beaumont Foundation put it, language that “improves compliance.”
