Bill Gates says world can prevent ‘next pandemic’ if Australia’s draconian lockdown efforts duplicated

The extreme measures that Australia imposed upon their citizens throughout the COVID pandemic have earned the admiration of Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates who is already making plans for the “next pandemic.”

While attending the annual Munich Security Conference, Gates spoke favorably about the measures that Australia took, CNBC reported. “They orchestrated diagnostics, they executed quarantine policies, and they have a death rate in a different league than other rich countries.”

“And everybody had the capability to do that,” Gates added of the policies that he considers the gold standard. Gates also said of utilizing the Australian example, “If every country does what Australia did, then you wouldn’t be calling [the next outbreak] a pandemic.”

To recap for those unfamiliar with the draconian policies implemented down under, the country routinely shut down the border throughout the pandemic, restricted travel outside of a limited radius from one’s home and detained citizens in quarantine camps using the military as enforcement against civil protests.

Additionally, the Australian government took extensive measures to further segregate members of the population who were deemed unvaccinated against COVID instituting lockdowns specific to them.

“Work is not a reason to leave the home for the unvaccinated,” Chief Minister Michael Gunner said in January. “The Chief Health Officer has also determined that restrictions of movement is critical right now and that one hour of exercise for the next four days is not essential.”

The “fully vaccinated” remained free to “go about their lives” so long as they continued to comply with all other mandates.

As the pandemic is reportedly winding down, has the Australian government backed off on the limits to freedom?  No. Australians face up to a year in prison or a $50,000 fine for behaving in an “offensive” manner toward a business that asks for proof of vaccination. Businesses that don’t comply with keeping those deemed unvaccinated out of public spaces face up $250,000 in fines.

And while Gates makes the claim that the death rate for COVID was less in Australia than for other wealthy nations, has he factored in the deaths related to lockdowns.

Numerous warnings were thrown up early on that mental health issues were on the rise when citizens were faced with the unprecedented restrictions imposed on them. Drug overdoses climbed to tragic levels as people struggled to cope. This does not account for other health consequences that developed as a result of missed medical exams and the lasting impact of economic upheaval.
