‘Freedom over Faucism’: Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis blasts the ‘Brandon administration’ and ignites the CPAC crowd

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis knows how to pump up a crowd in any state, but when he’s got the home advantage, standing in Orlando, kicking off the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), and railing against the failed administration of President Biden, his charisma could very well carry him all the way to the White House.

“CPAC,” DeSantis grinned amid cheers and applause, “let me welcome you to the freest state in these United States.”

The wildly popular governor then spent 20 minutes blasting “wokeism,” the media, and, above all else, Joe Biden.

“I can tell you, there’s one fellow that just hates Florida: his name is Joe Biden,” DeSantis said. “Always trying to take potshots at Florida and he does things like take our medication. He stiffs storm victims of relief just because he doesn’t like the governor. He doesn’t like Florida. He doesn’t like me, because we stand up to him.”

The crowd roared with their approval.

DeSantis focused on those issues closest to conservatives’ hearts: the economy, inflation, soaring crime, and the catastrophe at our southern border.

“The inflation is because of his policies and we’re not going to let anyone forget that,” DeSantis vowed. “So, all told, he’s had the worst first year of any president since the 1800s.”

Florida, the governor was quick to point out, has taken a different approach, leading the nation and hitting back hard at Biden’s progressive policies.

“And as Biden flounders, Florida is leading on issue after issue…” he said. “We are in the process of getting money from the legislature so that if Biden is dumping illegal aliens into Florida from the southern border, I’m rerouting them to Delaware.”

“We’ll do some in D.C. and Hollywood as well,” he added to thunderous applause and a standing ovation.

DeSantis then launched into National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony Fauci, much to the crowd’s satisfaction.

“From the very beginning, we refused to let this state descend into some type of Faucian dystopia, where people’s freedoms are curtailed and their livelihoods are destroyed…” he said, declaring, “Florida has defeated Faucism. Freedom has prevailed in the sunshine state.”

“I really believe, had Florida not led the way, this country could look like Canada or Australia,” he added.

And in keeping with CPAC’s 2022 slogan, “Awake, not woke,” DeSantis spared no disparaging words for the divisive school curriculum known as Critical Race Theory (CRT) and “woke culture.”

“They want us to be powerless,” he said. “They want us to be voiceless. They want us to be second-class citizens. And what are these ideological aims? The woke is the new religion of the left, and this is what they have in mind.”

He called for Republicans to show courage and to stand against “the Brandon administration.”

“In times like these, there is no substitute for courage,” DeSantis said. “Having the courage to stand up against things like cancel culture. Having the courage to reject corporate media narratives. Having the courage to take on institutions like Big Tech. Having the courage to stand in the way of the Brandon administration.”

What he didn’t address was the Russian-Ukraine war, an omission upon which his detractors seized.

But critics can’t drown out the support and momentum DeSantis has created.

The simple fact is, Governor Ron DeSantis is loved, not just by Floridians, but by conservatives across the country, and as the midterm elections draw near, it’s an enthusiastic crowd that shows no signs of sitting down.
