Former National Security Advisor John Bolton was savaged by President Joe Biden’s supporters after he made uncomplimentary comments about the nation’s 46th president over the Ukraine debacle during an appearance on MSNBC.

On Tuesday, the abrasive uber-hawk sat down with veteran newswoman Andrea Mitchell for an interview that didn’t sit well with the staunchly pro-Democrat network, triggering liberals with his suggestion that Russian President Vladimir Putin is going to use Biden as a footstool after yet another foreign policy fiasco which could possibly lead to the predicted invasion of the strife-torn country.

Adding insult to injury, Bolton likened Biden to former President Donald J. Trump, a man who not only fired him but also repeatedly mocked him on Twitter, at one point referring to the man who served as the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations under the Bush administration as “one of the dumbest people in Washington.”

During his at times contentious chat on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports,” Bolton got his shots in at his former boss but leveled his harshest condemnation at Biden whom he seemed to blame for the failure to prevent Russia from pulling off what the White House is now referring to as an “invasion” in a self-owning acknowledgment that despite his tough talk, that the sitting POTUS came up short of the objective.

According to Bolton, “I think Putin was undoubtedly waiting for a second Trump term but he’s getting effectively almost what he would have expected then,” he said. “This is going to be a victory for Russia.”

Biden’s defenders came at Bolton hard and fast on Twitter where they wailed in fury at his remarks as well as at MSNBC for providing him with a forum.

“This is why you don’t invite liars like John Bolton to your program. He lulled Andrea Mitchell to sleep with some coherent talking points, and then right at the end just declares victory on behalf of Putin because like… Biden is feckless or something,” griped Media Matters research director Craig Harrington.

Former West Virginia state senator Richard Ojeda II of the group No Dem Left Behind wrote, “I don’t want to hear John Bolton’s opinion on what we should be doing with Russia or anything for that matter.”

Some are still bitter that Bolton declined to testify at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s failed impeachment of Trump and took to the platform to vent.

Others expressed their indignation over the MSNBC interview.

Bolton was recently critical of Trump in comments published by Newsweek, claiming that had the nation’s 45th president won a second term the Russians would already be in Kyiv.

“I think he would have given Ukraine away, basically,” Bolton said. “Until they turn over that Democratic National Committee server and find out what Hunter Biden was doing in Ukraine, Ukraine was going to fend for itself.”

Never mind that Bolton left out one very important detail, that if Trump really wanted to “give away” Ukraine, he had four years to do it.

In the current hyper-partisan environment, Bolton’s remarkable achievement of accomplishing crossover appeal where he is disliked by both sides of the political spectrum is an astonishing feat.
