U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) announced that fencing will once again be installed around the Capitol building ahead of President Biden’s first State of the Union address, leaving many wondering, “who cares?”
The USCP released a statement on Friday describing how they are working closely with “local, state and federal law enforcement agencies” like the United States Secret Service and D.C. National Guard and they “are aware of plans for a series of truck convoys arriving in Washington, DC around the time” of Biden’s address.
Though the Friday statement said that a decision had not been made for the “temporary inner-perimeter fence,” Fox News confirmed Sunday that it would be installed. Despite the suggestion that an American trucker convoy is on its way, the question remains if anyone is interested in the speech.
Why? Nobody cares what the creepy weirdo basement dummy has to say. https://t.co/BcV1ls8i3v

Nothing says, "The most votes in history" like erecting a fence around the capitol….

Yes, it’s easy to forget that with Biden’s approval rating at historic lows, he received 81 million votes in the 2020 election.

Biden will be the oldest sitting president to give a State of the Union speech, which raised the possibility for the fence’s purpose.
It’s to keep Brandon from wandering off and getting lost.

It’s to keep him from leaving. Dementia patients tend to wander off…

One person posed a solution to accommodate for the aging president.
Will it be moved to 3pm this year?

Others do agree with the USCP suggestion that there will indeed be a trucker convoy arriving to the capital and what it brings with it.
He’s scared of the honkening

This isn’t the first time that the USCP has decided to reinstall the fence ahead of protests. A rally was held in September seeking justice for the U.S. citizens currently being held without due process following the events of January 6, 2021. The bluster in the days leading up to the rally was unwarranted and time will tell if the same holds true now.
It still presents the issue of what the fencing implies in relation to elected officials and their constituencies-
If you fear protests and need fences to protect yourself from the people you serve, maybe your the problem.

-and how those officials ought to better spend taxpayer dollars to address the concerns of the American people.
Paying hundreds of thousands of dollars to lock down a building for a Congress & a President at war with the American people. The @HouseGOP & @SenateGOP should decline to participate. Charter a plane to McAllen & challenge @joebiden to #SecureOurBorder. https://t.co/sJfnDJXgCj

Then again, as Spring approaches, maybe they’re really just afraid of how crowded the capital gets when the cherry blossoms bloom.
The Tourists must be heading back to DC !!!
