Buttigieg’s ‘Highway to Hell’ misrepresents driving data to end ‘old notions of freedom’: Laura Ingraham

Pete Buttigieg misrepresented traffic safety data out of “hate” for the American way of life and plans to use infrastructure as a means to “end freedoms,” Fox News host Laura Ingraham warned.

The U.S. Department of Transportation secretary’s true motivations were suggested on “The Ingraham Angle” Tuesday, after Ingraham pointed out statistical data that was taken completely out of context.

Buttigieg signaled that there had been a double-digit increase in traffic fatalities from 2020 to 2021 and that this spike is the equivalent of Americans “living through a war.” These remarks follow his earlier assertions that the infrastructure was “racist.”

However, his claim left out the critical fact that in 2020, America was under pandemic lockdown and considerable numbers of citizens weren’t driving anywhere.

“In 2020 the economy came to a halt and so did everything else,” Ingraham reminded viewers, “which was just peachy for the folks at The New York Times. They wrote, ‘In Los Angeles as businesses and schools have closed this month and drivers have stayed off the roads, air pollution has declined and traffic jams have all but vanished.'”

“The climate change crazies that control the Biden agenda were never happier than in the spring of 2020,” Ingraham suggested before highlighting the key takeaways. “Businesses shuttered, people stopped commuting…But now that people are slowly getting back to the office…they want to make permanent the new normal feeling of the pandemic glory days by making private vehicle ownership increasingly difficult for average Americans.”

“And the sick thing is,” Ingraham emphasized, “they’re concealing their plans by wrapping them in the noble goal of reducing traffic accidents and fatalities.”

Ingraham brought up a statement from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that said, in part, “This will require a transformational…approach to safety on our nation’s roads.”

“The real cultural shift the left wants to force on us involves our freedom,” Ingraham surmised.

Discussing the “ludicrous” goal of having zero U.S. traffic fatalities, Ingraham detailed how this isn’t just about pushing electric cars, although she did mention that the lengthy charge times and limited distance capabilities between charges were a good way to keep drivers off the road.

The goal of the administration is control, she contended. Citing recent rule changes in Colorado, she pointed out how they are now regulating the total permissible emissions, threatening to remove funding if goals were not achieved.

These objectives are in stark contrast to the reality of driver fatalities that have been on the rise through ever-increasing CAFE standards, as radio host Mark Levin has explained in the past. In order to meet fleet emission standards cars have become lighter resulting in the deaths of “tens of thousands,” Levin says.

Despite that reality, “Mayor Pete thinks you should be happy car-less at home,” Ingraham derided. “As with every issue, the goal of the Biden team is not to make your life better. It’s to force you to behave better, to leave the old notions of freedom behind.”
