Democrat Rep. Jamaal Bowman (NY) continued the trend of mask proponents shirking state and local policies during a visit to a New York high school.
Bowman visited New Rochelle High School twice within a week’s span to meet with students and officials from the New Rochelle Board of Education and Mascaro Boys and Girls Club in the wake of the murder of Julian Oliveros, 16, according to local newspaper Talk of the Sound.
The multiple pictures featured in that newspaper and the high school newsletter show that this was not an isolated incident.
“Congressman Jamaal Bowman and Superintendent Jonathan Raymond met with New Rochelle High School students, teachers, and administrators this past week,” the newsletter reported.

As the City School District of New Rochelle “continues to enforce New York State’s indoor mask mandate in school settings,” the Superintendent, faculty, and administrators appear to be lax in this instance.
Following the school visit, Bowman tweeted out a statement on the importance of masks.
“Make sure to mask up, stay safe, and get boosted. We must protect our elderly and immunocompromised community members,” Bowman tweeted on Feb 2.
Even though daily COVID-19 cases are decreasing, we must stay vigilant.

In spite of his own public comments on the matter, Bowman tweeted a photo of himself at another indoor event without a mask.
This photo posted on Feb 5 was taken while the Representative attended the Westchester Jewish Council Gala.

These events follow a series of instances where high-profile Democrats have appeared maskless in venues where a masking policy is enforced.
Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams was widely criticized for appearing at an elementary school this past week without a mask while surrounded by students who were fully masked.
Prior to that, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, San Francisco Mayor London Breed, and California Governor Gavin Newsom were photographed maskless posing with NBA legend Magic Johnson while attending the NFC Championship game.
In response, Garcetti said, “if it makes you and everyone else happy – or even the photographs with people where literally I’m holding my breath for two seconds – I won’t even do that.”
Even President Biden has been a repeat offender when it comes to violating the mask policies that he supports.
“The president was seen inside Murray’s Toggery Shop on the island of Nantucket Saturday with his mask around his neck and not covering his mouth despite a visible sign outside the door instructing patrons to wear a mask,” Fox News reported in November.
From the GOP’s Jake Schneider: “Not too long ago, Biden called wearing a mask “a patriotic responsibility, for God’s sake” and “How many times has Biden lectured us on wearing a mask?”
Bowman’s mask hypocrisy drew fierce criticism on Twitter:
It’s obviously science and not about politics when I have to wear a mask inside but you don’t. Thanks for keeping us safe champ.

Let me guess… he is holding his breath

We’re told to wear a mask to protect others. Thank you for showing everyone what you think of everyone else🖕🖕🖕

I see @JamaalBowmanNY didn’t want to be left out of the hypocrisy photos.
