Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams was made to pay dearly for an incredibly tone deaf pic that she posted to social media that underscores the “rules are for thee and not for me” approach that Democrats have adopted over the hellish two years of the COVID pandemic.

On Friday, Abrams shared a picture of her visit to an Atlanta-area elementary school where she was captured beaming her trademark gap-toothed smile while sitting like a Buddha statue in front of a classroom full of children who have been forced to suffer the indignity of being masked for the school day only like so many other Dem politicians, she excluded herself from any requirements to wear the stifling face diaper.

The picture was first posted by Dr. Holly Brookins, the principal of Glennwood Elementary school in Decatur, Georgia who tweeted out praise to the surprise visitor for Black History month while plugging the sore loser’s new children’s book Stacey’s Extraordinary Words, clearly oblivious to the super-sized optics problem that was instantly obvious to any astute observer.

Abrams herself re-tweeted Dr. Holly while serving up thanks to Glennwood’s “spectacular, delightful and outstanding” faculty and staff.

Someone in Abrams’ campaign or the larger Democrat party apparatus must have gotten to her with a warning about the potential political ramifications of such an image in an election year because she soon deleted it.

Not to be outdone, Dr. Holly not only deleted the tweet, but nuked her entire account.

However, It was too little too late because by the time that both scrubbed the incriminating image, it had already gone viral on Twitter where Abrams’ political adversaries immediately pounced on the unforced error.

Republican Georgia Governor Brian Kemp who will almost certainly be facing off against Abrams when voters go to the polls in November tweeted, “Stacey Abrams wants state government mask mandates for Georgians and their children.”

“But it looks like they wouldn’t apply when she’s attending a photo op,” he wrote.

Politico’s Alex Thompson predicted that Abrams would come to regret her epic public relations blunder, “Have a feeling this photo—which Abrams promoted on her own account—of her appearing maskless surrounded by kids in masks is gonna be in a lot of ads this fall.”

Other Twitter users took Abrams to the house of pain.

Clay Travis of Outkick and co-host of the nationally syndicated Clay & Buck Show wrote, “The number of left wing politicians who post photos posing without masks while all the kids around them are wearing masks is stunning. Here is Stacey Abrams doing it. This is child abuse.”

Travis added, “It’s also worth noting that as an obese adult Abrams is the person in this photo who is statistically at risk from covid the most BY FAR. Not the kids. At all.”

He then finished his flurry with another delightful jab of Abrams, “I look forward to Abrams’s explanation for this photo. Maybe she was holding her breath like LA’s mayor,” referring to feckless Democrat Eric Garcetti’s lame excuse after he was caught partying with celebs without his face covering at last weekend’s NFC Championship game.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette columnist and radio talk show host Paul Zeise also brought up Garcetti with his remarks on Abrams, “Let me guess, she is holding her breath and thus doesn’t need her mask! The kids, however, they are in danger….”

Pulitzer Prize winning journalist Glenn Greenwald  threw in his two cents, Meanwhile: since @staceyabrams is a very sophisticated and important liberal, I’m sure there’s something in The Science™ that justifies her being maskless indoors, surrounded by young kids forced to wear masks all day. Maybe she’s holding her breath?”

Others weighed in, as well:

Abrams may have had the good political sense to stay away from President Joe Biden when he delivered his already infamous MLK Day speech that was drenched in demagoguery when the increasingly unpopular leader likened those who opposed his support for congressional Democrats’ “voting rights” legislation to the biggest villains of the civil rights era, but she may have done major damage to her hope of seizing the state’s governorship with her ill-advised picture.

Time will tell but many voters won’t soon forget this, especially parents whose children have been forcibly masked.
