A Democrat congresswoman has raised eyebrows over her own vaccine mandate after it was revealed in an email that those who seek to meet with either her or her staff must present proof that they have been jabbed, a slap in the face to constituents who will be denied access to their elected representative.

In the email that was obtained and published by The Spectator, Alabama Rep. Terri Sewell’s office laid down the law that, “Proof of COVID-19 vaccinations are required for every in-person or in-office meeting with the Congresswoman or with staff,”

Rep. Sewell’s vaccine mandate came in the form of a disclaimer at the bottom of the message offering “FREE SNACKS,” an invitation to sample one of the state’s top agricultural products.

“Hey y’all,” the email began, “We have tons of Alabama peanuts to give out. No trade necessary and will send an intern if you’re in office today,” however, those who had not yet been vaccinated shouldn’t expect to partake in the enjoyment of the delightful crunchy snacks.

While some staffers were likely disappointed that they would be deprived of the free grub, the larger issue is that many of Sewell’s home state constituents could also be shut out. According to figures from the CDC, only 49.5 percent of Alabama residents classify as being fully vaccinated.

“Rep. Terri Sewell’s office clarified to The Spectator World that the congresswoman has likely met with unvaccinated constituents during outdoor events in her district or during virtual Zoom calls. They confirmed, per our reporting, that Rep. Sewell’s office has a vaccine mandate for official visits and in-person meetings. They also informed us that her district offices in Alabama have the same policy,” the outlet reported.

Sewell has been an ardent supporter of President Joe Biden’s mass vaccination campaign, one that turned from cajoling and begging to outright coercion with a series of vaccine mandates. The most prominent was a scheme for large employers to force their employees to submit to being jabbed, with OSHA providing the muscle, and was slapped down by the Supreme Court last month.

“This is a life-or-death situation, and it requires leadership. And President Biden is showing that leadership,” Sewell said in October according to Fox News.

She is also hawking Biden’s free at-home test kits, which are finally available for order after a rough rollout. Critics argue it underscored the failure of the nation’s 46th president to shut down the virus as he had promised on the campaign trail, only to find himself overmatched once he occupied the White House and COVID continued to rage.

Some took to Twitter to express their opinions about Rep. Sewell’s vax mandate.

Rep. Sewell has served as the representative for Alabama’s 7th congressional district since 2011 and is a member of the Congressional Black Caucus.
