As the Freedom Convoy in Canada faces off against the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at the Alberta/Montana border, truckers in America are reportedly planning their own nationwide convoy in a stand against government overreach.

A Facebook group called “Convoy to DC 2022” is calling on all truckers to form a chain of semi-trucks and converge on Washington D.C. to protest the Biden administration’s increasingly authoritarian mandates and policies, according to The Trucker.

“We are part of many large groups who believe in our founding fathers,” the group stated on a Facebook page that appears to have since been disabled.

“We support our freedom. Help us spread the word about this group and together we all can make it a better place,” the group added, according to the outlet. “God Bless America.”

“We’re done with the mandates, we’re done with the government telling us what to do, we will continue, and we will follow just like the rest of the world on these trucker protests, and they will be 100 percent legal,” said Brian Von D, the administrator of the group, in a video that had been posted.

“America, it’s your turn,” he continued. “It’s your turn to step up and show what you’re made of.”

As its membership neared 200,000 users, the “Convoy to DC 2022” page was suddenly no longer accessible.

Tyler Lee, a Republican running for Congress in North Carolina who appears to be involved in the effort initially posted on Twitter: “Minutes ago Facebook shut down our ‘Convoy to DC’ page with 139,000 followers. We’ll share a backup group soon.”

He then followed with this: “Facebook’s statement to @foxandfriends claimed the Convoy to DC group was “repeatedly violating our policies policies around QAnon.” This stunt by Facebook is exactly why Americans are fed up.”

It’s not clear at this point if Facebook did shut down the group — stay tuned. Adding to the confusion, Von D posted on a new page with the added titled “Restart” on Tuesday morning

“Unfortunately, Convoy To DC 2022 was shutdown at 200,000 members. Note: There are pages using this name and/or names similar to this page. Those are not us,” he wrote.

Beware of ANY FUND RAISING platforms on other pages as we have ((NEVER)) set up from this group as we have told you from the beginning! All the others could very well be a major scam!” he continued. “We will get to the bottom of those who did this. We will fix what these evil people have done.”

“Today people are evil. Just know my passion is your passion,’ the post concluded. “Know that is Convoy is still happening.”

The new page, which is as of this writing was “paused” by an administrator, already boasted 4,000 members.

Von D expects the DC Convoy to differ from Canada’s inspirational efforts in one respect: its size.

“America has a lot more trucks,” he said in a Facebook video posted on January 27, according to The Trucker.

According to Von D, it isn’t just truckers getting involved. Teachers, police officers, firefighters, nurses, union workers, private business and families have been invited to join in the movement, which Von D promises “will be in the history books.”

Trucker and fellow event organizer, Brian Base, stated in a video on the original group site, “Our convoy needs to be big. We need to make a statement that will not take it anymore. And we need to hold the line until our Constitutional freedoms are respected.”

As of January 22, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) began requiring all “non-U.S. individuals seeking to enter the United States via land ports of entry and ferry terminals at the U.S.-Mexico and U.S. Canada borders to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and provide related proof of vaccination,” according to a press release on the DHS website.

Meanwhile, truckers in Australia, Brazil, and the Netherlands are reportedly organizing their own convoys, as worldwide support for the grassroots movement continues to grow.
