Video of an elderly woman’s confrontation with a brazen thief in which she delivered a verbal beatdown while yanking off his black mask has gone viral as law-abiding citizens who are sick and tired of the crime wave created by liberal policies hailed a new hero.
The action went down at a Walmart in Canada when a man wearing a black balaclava who was heading to the parking lot with a shopping cart filled with purloined goods was intercepted by the woman who foiled the theft, ripping the mask from his head and delivering a lesson that he likely won’t soon forget.
In the video, which was captured and posted to Facebook before being widely circulated on social media, the shoplifter exits the main store and retrieves a bicycle from the lobby, putting himself on a collision course with the grandma who went old school on him.
The individual who caught the incident on video asked the perp “Are you gonna pay for that?” to which the masked man replied “yeah” as he trundled the wheels back toward the automatic doors where his clean getaway from the Campbell River B.C. store was aborted.

“Excuse me,” the lady said, “I’m fed up with this bullsh*it” as she began tearing at the balaclava, “take that f**ckin mask off a**hole,”
“Godd*mn thief,” she cursed as she successfully exposed the man’s face for security cameras, appearing to grab the cart off-camera. “F*ck off a**hole,” she said as he struggled to regain control of the cart before giving up, grabbing his backpack and sheepishly pedaling away on the bike.
“You just jack up the price for everybody else because of you a**holes,” she said as he made his retreat.”It’s about time they got caught.”
Darrell Johansen, the man who filmed the incident and uploaded it to his Facebook page and put a call into the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, wrote, “I spotted this guy within five seconds of entering the store and knew he was about to run and this is the result. Whoever that lady is that ripped his mask off, I’ll take you as my partner in crime fighting anytime. Lol.”
He also wrote the RCMP but was told that unless Walmart filed a complaint, there was nothing that they could do.
Twitter users took to the platform to weigh in on the video of the fiery granny giving the scumbag his comeuppance.

According to a report by British Columbia independent media outlet CHEK News, “Cst. Maury Tyre with the Campbell River RCMP says there is quite a bit of frustration in the community about theft, but people should not step in to prevent shoplifting.”
“It’s not something that we can really recommend doing, because there have been some incidents that have definitely escalated to severe violence in the community,” he said.
“Some of the individuals that are stealing and taking things, taking carts full, commonly carried carry knives or bear spray, and when people do take matters into their own hands, they have to understand that there is an inherent risk and even sometimes liability when they do so.”
The 73-year-old woman who doesn’t want to be identified told CTV News, “I was frustrated that this guy is going to get away with $300-$400 worth of groceries. It’s going to put a hardship on everybody.”
According to the CTV news report, she has a history of dealing with criminals: “In her 17 years as a former bank teller, she was robbed three times. Once was facing down the barrel of a shotgun in Vancouver, and then twice at banks in Calgary.”
“They rattle you,” she said. “It’s not a good position to put yourself into and you’re told constantly within the banking system don’t worry about it, just give them the money, get them out of the bank, you’re protecting everybody.”
The outlet reported: “She says it was partly those experiences that led to a quick reaction at the Walmart door, when she pulled off the man’s mask in an effort to gather evidence. ‘I know that the only way for the police to identify a suspect is to get a good face shot and I knew that removing the balaclava was the right thing to do,’ she added.”
