As President Joe Biden dithers over whether to let Russia conduct a “minor incursion” into Ukraine or not, former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Friday that former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is a “warmonger” for wanting to involve the United States in the conflict.
Gabbard also named other officials from the former Trump administration as “warmongers.” She found common ground with Carlson who is opposed to military intervention by the United States or any action that would increase tensions between Russia and America. Gabbard has long opposed foreign interventionism.
Leaders on both sides of the political aisle are calling for Biden to take action to stop Russia from marching into and invading Ukraine. Russian President Vladimir Putin has amassed thousands of troops on the Ukraine border and has reportedly conducted a large-scale cyber attack on the country in preparation for an invasion.
“My guess is that some of the people pushing for war don’t actually want a real war with Russia,” Carlson asserted. “It would tank our economy in a second.”
He was worried that people will “talk themselves into getting us into a war inadvertently,” despite the fact that many would contend we have been quietly at a kind of war with both Russia and China for some time.
“I’m deeply concerned about that because that’s very much the direction that we are headed,” Gabbard said.
“You know, Tucker, I look back to early 2017 when then-President Trump said, ‘Hey, it would be good if we got along with Russia.’ You remember the reaction to that. Everyone from, you know, Democratic leaders, Republican leaders, people in the mainstream media – they said, ‘Absolutely no way,'” the former 2020 presidential candidate stated.
“There were people in Trump’s own administration, warmongers like John Bolton, Nikki Haley, Mike Pompeo, who rejected it outright and went on [with] their own agenda, and we’re seeing the results of this now,” she charged.
Carlson nodded in agreement notwithstanding the brutal fact that if Russia takes Ukraine it will potentially lay the groundwork for further Russian aggression into Europe and beyond.
Gabbard pointed out that we are seeing “these warmongers escalating tensions and putting us in this disastrous position today.”
Pompeo’s take on the situation is decidedly different than Gabbard’s and Carlson’s. He sees it as not only a threat to national security but to the world.

This isn’t the first time that Gabbard has called out so-called “warmongers.” She also appeared on Fox News’ “The Next Revolution,” telling host Steve Hilton that the viewpoint of the “warmongers” is now “influencing the decisions that are being made by this White House.”
She charged that Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan are part of a growing problem. She noted that they are well-known supporters of “regime change wars.”
“Unfortunately, in this White House, we have warmongers and people like Jake Sullivan and Tony Blinken, who had a very strong hand in being the architects of regime change wars in Iraq, in Libya, in Syria and they’re the ones who are influencing the decisions being made by this White House,” Gabbard stated.
“As warmongers in the White House escalate tensions with Russia, let’s be real about what we’re dealing with – open conflict between two nuclear armed powers. The only place this conflict can end is the destruction of the world and life as we know it. This is what’s at stake,” she tweeted.

“It’s one thing if it’s a minor incursion and we end up having to fight about what to do and not do,” Biden previously remarked. “But if they actually do what they’re capable of doing with the forces amassed on the border, it is going to be a disaster for Russia if they further invade Ukraine.”
