A Michigan university has been forced to place one of its professors on administrative leave after he went off on a bizarre, expletive-laden video rant in which he accused students of being “vectors of disease” in yet another example of the left’s ongoing descent into madness.

Administrators at Ferris State University reacted after a YouTube video of history professor Barry Mehler that was posted as an introduction to his class drew attention both for its sheer strangeness as well as the clusters of F-bombs that he dispersed during the shocking diatribe that went viral on social media.

After opening the video with him removing what appeared to be a space helmet and telling students that “it’s dangerous to breathe the air,” Professor Mehler teed up a vintage television ad from Camel cigarettes that more doctors preferred the brand than any other as a jab against capitalism before veering off into forbidden territory with his profanity-saturated monologue which was sprinkled with tidbits of doom including “civilization is collapsing,” “life on your planet is going extinct,” and accusing them of being “vectors of disease.”

“I want to introduce myself before we actually meet F to F as we say these days which everybody knows means f**k to f**k which really means that we’re all f**ked,” he said in the video which is still available on his YouTube account.

“When you see me next week, I’ll be wearing this helmet,” he said, explaining that it  set him back “300 bucks” and has “HEPA filters all around it so that all the air I’m breathing comes in through the HEPA filters and all the air that I breathe out goes out through the HEPA filters so that it protects both me and you from this deadly virus that’s going around.”

The 74-year-old Mehler then told students that “I may have f**ked up my life flatter than hammered sh*t but I stand before you today beholden to no human c*******er and working a paying f**kin union job and no limber d**k c*******er of an administrator is going to tell me how to teach my classes because I’m a f**king tenured professor,” he said.

He also told students who may be offended: “So, if you want to go complain to your dean, f**k you, go ahead, I’m retiring at the end of this year and I couldn’t give a flying f**k any longer, you people are just vectors of disease to me and I don’t want to be anywhere near you so keep your f**king distance, if you want to talk to me, come to my Zoom.”

Ferris State University issued a statement that it was “aware of a course video distributed to students, in early January, by a faculty member, believed to be Professor Barry Mehler. The faculty member has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation…”

The suspended educator later explained that his tirade was intended to inspire students “to get their juices flowing” and that “If a professor comes in and he’s all high and mighty and using words they don’t understand — that doesn’t help them relax and think. … It was a performance,” Mehler told the Associated Press.

School President David Eisler said that he was “shocked and appalled” by the video which resulted in the suspension. Mehler responded that “the president has never liked me,” according to the Associated Press.

Twitter reacted to Mehler’s potty-mouthed weirdness:

According to a Fox News report, “The professor is also the director of Ferris State University’s Institute for the Study of Academic Racism, according to a now-deleted faculty page on Ferris State University’s website.”
