In an attempt to honor legendary musician David Bowie on what would have been his 75th birthday, three young stars sang a cover of his song “Changes” for social media. Unfortunately for them, it was terrible and the entire internet let them know it.
W Magazine recruited Willow Smith, daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, and actresses Zendaya and Kiernan Shipka to create a tribute to the icon, but social media was ruthless.
“In honor of what would have been #DavidBowie’s 75th birthday, watch as the stars deliver a heartfelt rendition of the legendary rocker’s hit song,” read the Instagram post. However, commenters pointed out that the rendition of the song certainly didn’t sound “heartfelt.” In fact, it is more like dramatic poetry than an actual song.

While these young women might be good at their respective occupations, the comments section of the video let them know that tributes was not their niche.

Believe it or not, Instagram comments were even more savage.
“Bowie is lucky that he is dead and can’t see this,” said one particularly peeved person.
“Y’all didn’t even give them a key to sing in huh?” asked another.
“I thought this was gonna be cute but instead it felt blasphemous,” lamented yet another commenter.
“That was kind of uncomfortable to hear.”
“Why are they reading these iconic lyrics off a page!!??? If they don’t know them off by heart like any Bowie fan then,” argued a fan.
However, some people couldn’t admit to liking the video, but blamed the quality on the magazine rather than the artists themselves:
