Embattled Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky responded to harsh criticism of her agency over the revision of quarantine guidance that drastically reduced isolation time as the Omicron variant is sweeping the nation.

Dr. Walensky appeared on Fox News Sunday where she defended the decision to issue the change, the latest example of how the CDC has confused Americans with mixed messaging and ever-shifting recommendations that are often at odds with other components of the federal health bureaucracy as well as the Biden administration.

During her grilling by host Baier, Walensky rejected the idea that here has been a loss of public trust and confidence in the agency that she has headed up since last year as frustration grows over Biden’s failure to deliver on campaign trail promises to defeat the virus.

“Before you took this job officially, you emphasized that one of your primary goals was to restore public trust,” Baier asked, “but in this time, do you think that it’s fair to say that the trust and confidence the public has gone down, with the CDC?”

Walensky responded, “You know, this is hard, we have ever-evolving science with an ever-evolving variant, and my job is to provide updated guidance in the context of rapidly rising cases and that is what we’ve done, and I am here to explain it to the American people and I’m committed to continuing to do so and to continuing to improve.”

The CDC boss wouldn’t be pinned down by Baier who asked her to quantify exactly how many of the 836,000 U.S. deaths that have been “linked” to COVID are actually representative of those who have died from the virus rather than from other comorbidities, a potentially damning detail that could blow a smoking hole in the narrative that allows the administration to prolong the state of emergency indefinitely.

Walensky only said that the “data will be forthcoming,” wriggling out of giving a direct answer.

When invited by Baier to rebut the grossly misleading remarks by Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor during Friday’s arguments over Biden’s vaccine mandates in which the “wise Latina” lied about children on ventilators, Walensky again ducked the question.

She did however verify to host Bret Baier that there are fewer than 3,500 children in hospitals with COVID-19, as opposed to Sotomayor falsely claiming there were “over 100,000 children… in serious condition and on ventilators.”

With her seat getting hotter by the day, Walensky has been polishing up her public relations skills by working with a top Democratic party spinmeister

According to a CNN report, “Walensky has met privately with prominent Democratic media consultant Mandy Grunwald to improve her communication skills and continues to do so, according to a person familiar with the previously unreported sessions. On Friday, Walensky will hold the CDC’s first independent media briefing since the summer after deciding abruptly this week that she wanted to take questions “head on,” according to a person familiar with her decision to hold the briefing.”

Pressure on Walensky over the reduction in quarantine time has intensified and last week, the American Medical Association put out a statement ripping the CDC over the new guidance which he called “confusing” and “counterproductive.”

Between Biden’s authoritarian mandates and demonizing of the unvaccinated and Walensky and Dr. Anthony Fauci’s constant flip-flopping and moving of the goalposts, Americans have good reason to lose confidence in an administration that is deeply unpopular and incapable of doing the heavy lifting required for effective governance – so much for the adults being back in charge.
