Baldwin refers to Jan 6 to blast right wing ‘hate’ over him killing woman on set, says it ‘takes time’ to turn over cellphone

In an Instagram video, a “truth-seeking” Alec Baldwin claims that he is “1000 percent” going to comply with a search warrant for his cellphone — eventually.

The Trump-loathing liberal threw in some references to “right-wing hate” and January 6 for good measure, perhaps as a form of deflection.

The actor and longtime gun control advocate is under investigation for the October 21, 2021, fatal shooting on a Santa Fe, New Mexico, movie set during the filming of the movie “Rust” that tragically resulted in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and the wounding of director Joel Souza.

In mid December, authorities in that state obtained a search warrant for Baldwin’s phone as part of the probe. Whether he is currently benefiting from celebrity privilege is a matter of speculation even as he seems stressed out despite his bravado.

“Paul Spinella, a spokesman for the Suffolk County  Sheriff’s Office, said the request had been forwarded to the county’s district attorney’s office to ‘work out the differences in laws’ between the two states,” the New York Times reported.

Last month, an attorney for Baldwin claimed the legal team “proactively requested that the authorities obtain a warrant so that we could take steps to protect Mr. Baldwin’s family and personal information that is clearly unrelated to the investigation,” the Times noted.

As part of a nearly five-minute video from behind the wheel of a parked car presumably near where he and his family have a home in the upscale Long Island, New York, Hamptons enclave in Suffolk County, the lawyered-up Baldwin insisted, “Any suggestion that I am not complying with requests or orders or demands or search warrants about my phone, that’s bulls–-t, that’s a lie.”

In an interview with ABC News last month, Baldwin claimed that he didn’t pull the trigger of the prop gun.

Baldwin began his monologue with a weird, rambling, anecdote about how someone left him a Splenda packet with words of encouragement written on it.

“This is a process where one state makes the request of another state. Someone from another state can’t come to you and say ‘give me your phone, give me this, give me that’ — they can’t do that. They have to go through the state you live in. That is a process that takes time; they have to specify what exactly what they want. They can’t just go through your phone and take your photos or your love letters to your wife, or what have you…But of course, we are 1,000 percent going to comply with all that; we’re perfectly fine with that,” Baldwin asserted.

Baldwin then slammed the New York Post for its insufficient coverage, in his opinion, of the death of beloved actor Sidney Poitier as opposed to the search warrant issue.

“On the cover of the Post, they have other lies and bulls–t and nonsense. The best way, the only way, we can honor the death of Halyna Hutchins is to find out the truth. That’s what I’m working toward, insisting on, demanding, that the organizations involved in this investigation do everything in their power to find out what really happened; that’s all that matters.”

As alluded to above, “On Friday, The Post spoke to legal experts who speculated that Baldwin had not yet complied with a warrant demanding his phone because it may contain ‘incriminating’ evidence that could hold him in criminal contempt, or sensitive personal material,” the news outlet explained.

“The best way to honor the death of Halyna Hutchins is to find out the truth,” Baldwin continued. “And any suggestion that we’re not complying — myself and any lawyers I’m working with or what have you — is a lie. As soon as we go through this process, that means we will comply…

“That’s all going to work itself out, regardless of what they say in these right-wing rag sheets and people who are all about hate. But setting aside all the hate, setting aside all the January 6th of it all, here it is,” he concluded, holding up the Splenda packet to the camera.

It’s difficult to determine if Baldwin is making various public statements about the incident upon the advice of or against the advice of his inner circle.

In an Instagram video around Christmas time, Baldwin recommended that his followers “Be safe, wear a mask, get the booster,” that they should not let Santa Claus “down the chimney without a mask,” that he is trying to move forward with his life.

As one of the producers of the movie in addition to being the star, Baldwin is considered management, and as such, is one of those named in at least two civil lawsuits alleging unsafe working conditions at the New Mexico location.

Several crew members reportedly quit the production prior to this tragic incident over workplace safety issues.

“For more than two months, detectives have been working to figure out how live bullets, which are not typically allowed, ended up on the film set and whether they could have come from the supplier of blanks and dummy rounds for the production,” the Times added.

Setting aside politics or ethics, with 145 acting credits on IMDB, Baldwin, 63, who is perhaps best known these days for his role on the NBC sitcom “30 Rock” is an excellent movie/TV performer (except for his very lame Trump imitation on “Saturday Night Live”). He is blessed with a resonant speaking voice, which is a big advantage in his career field,  however “acting” may be defined.

One of his memorable roles was in the film “Glengarry Glen Ross” as a profane motivator who demands that a group of sketchy real estate salesman must “always be closing.”
