‘Pure stupidity’: White House attempt to spin dismal job numbers falls on its face

The Biden administration’s attempt to put a positive spin on the latest job numbers was greeted with mockery and disbelief on social media as the administration desperately seeks to convince the American people that the grim reality of skyrocketing prices and product shortages are merely a figment of their imaginations.

The release of a December jobs report showed a gain of 199,000 jobs, far short of the 422,000 predicted by economists, a number that is even more disappointing in that it does not reflect the traditional gains related to holiday season hiring as the nation continues to be plagued by COVID and the rapid spread of the Omicron variant.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the unemployment rate clocked in at 3.9 percent, beating predictions of 4.1 percent and leading White House spinmeisters to take to Twitter to toot Joe Biden’s horn as presiding over a vibrant economy that has “created more jobs per month than under any other President – ever.”

Biden also took to Twitter to pat himself on the back for the “sharpest one year drop in unemployment in U.S. history.”

Speaker Nancy Pelosi, fresh off her unhinged demagoguery during the grand spectacle of the anniversary celebration of the so-called “insurrection” also engaged in some gaslighting on behalf of Biden and his Build Back Better agenda which some detractors have labeled as “Build Back Broke”

Fox News pointed out a critical bit of context that has been omitted, noting, “The talking point that Biden has created more jobs than any other president is a favorite of his – but he isn’t factoring in population and labor-force growth, or the fact that many of the jobs recently gained had been lost during a sharp drop in employment because of the coronavirus pandemic.”

No amount of massaging of the numbers by the White House, Democrats and their cadre of media shills will convince many outside of the Democratic Party that 2+2=5 and those who are not easily suckered by such political chicanery weighed in on the economic malaise that has marked the first year of the nation’s 46th president’s disastrous tenure.

Republican Senator Rick Scott of Florida brought down the hammer, tweeting: “Pure stupidity. That’s the only explanation for the job numbers we are seeing from the Biden admin. Push vaccine mandates, pay people not to work, totally fail to control COVID-19…this is what you get. Joe Biden’s failed socialist agenda is killing the American economy.”

Dilbert creator Scott Adams unleashed this zinger: “Compare the number of jobs created under Biden to the number of people his pandemic policies have killed so far,” he wrote.

“Has he killed more than he employed?” Adams asked. “Remember, presidents get credit/blame for everything that happens during their term. Those are the rules.”

Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee wondered when the media will start doing their jobs and holding Biden accountable for his failures.

“Will the press get off their butts, act like journalists & start asking questions instead of giving him a tongue bath?” he asked.

Richard Grennell, who served as the acting director of national intelligence under President Donald J. Trump, jabbed Biden as “just a politician that attends funerals and reads speeches. He’s a puppet.”

Senator Chuck Grassley likened Biden’s economic record to the bad old days of Jimmy Carter and “stagflation” in the 1970s.

Others who live in the reality-based world flooded the zone on Twitter.

As the adage attributed to Republican President Abraham Lincoln, one of America’s greatest leaders ever, famously put it, “You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time,” and the number of people who Biden has been able to hoodwink is rapidly dwindling.
