Admitting that he didn’t have anything “smart or original to say,” a somewhat haggard-looking and safety-advocating family man Alec Baldwin recommended on a rather redundant Instagram video that families should not let Santa Claus “down the chimney without a mask.”

“Be safe, wear a mask, get the booster,” he also advised in a dramatic stage-whisper, or an attempt at same.

The gist of his message was to thank his fans for their well-wishes during the “very difficult” and “very awkward” situation and pass along happy holidays to his supporters and anyone else watching.

Authorities are investing the October 21 incident at the Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico, during which Baldwin allegedly fired a gun on the set that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins and the wounding of director Joel Souza during the filming of “Rust”.

Earlier this month, investigators issued a search warrant for the actor’s cell phone in connection with the ongoing criminal probe.

During a weepy interview with George Stephanopoulos of ABC News a few weeks ago. Baldwin claimed that he never pulled the trigger.

Apparently, the prevailing law enforcement theory at this time is that a live round somehow got mixed in with the blanks for the pistol, although the investigation is ongoing and perhaps more facts will emerge.

As one of the producers of the movie in addition to being the star, Baldwin is one of those named in at least two civil lawsuits alleging unsafe working conditions at the location. Several crew members reportedly quit the production prior to this tragic incident over workplace safety issues.

With 145 acting credits on IMDB, the Trump-loathing liberal is an excellent movie/TV performer (except for his lame Trump imitation on “Saturday Night Live”) and who is blessed with a powerful speaking voice, although it sounded a bit raspy on the three-minute Instagram clip.

Whether he is also performing during press interviews or on social media as a way to develop a favorable narrative during the pending criminal investigation is a matter of speculation.

“I wanted to take a moment to say thank you to all of the people who sent me such kind words and, you know, best wishes, and strength, and hope and prayers, and so forth, and thoughts, and lots of encouragement,” Baldwin started out by saying on his Instagram video selfie. “I got hundreds of emails from friends and family and colleagues…to send me strength and good wishes, and so forth, and I’m very grateful for that…and online, on Instagram…

“I’m looking forward to some aspects of this being behind me, of course. For everyone who is involved in this, it i’s never going to be behind us, because somebody died so tragically…not a day goes by I don’t think about that,” he continued.

“You know, I’m home with my family, the only thing I care about — it’s true, all I care about is my wife and my kids — just moving forward with my life and trying to get through a tough time, a really tough time….I hope that you’re as lucky as I am in one department, and that is that you’re home with your family. I’m home with my family. That’s all I’ve got, everything that matters, is my family. My wife and my kids, who are so — they’re my life in every way.”

According to the New York Post, Alec Baldwin, 63, and his second wife Hilaria and their six kids are spending the holidays at the posh New York Hamptons enclave on Long Island. Hilaria, who is hardly shy in terms of generating publicity, has been also been active on Instagram posting holiday family photos.

Commenting on the tragic incident during a podcast interview in November, President Trump described the thespian as a “cuckoo-bird” and “nut-job.”

“But if nothing else, how do you take a gun and just, whether it’s loaded or not loaded, how do you take a gun, point it at somebody that’s not even in the movie and just point it at this person and pull the trigger and now she’s dead?” the former president asked.

Although Baldwin has previously said that authorities have told him not to comment publicly about the case, he obviously has been quite chatty with the media.
