NBC News is being disparaged and ridiculed for choosing to take a stand on behalf of the biological men whom critics say are ruining women’s sports.
Last week the left-wing outlet published a lengthy piece portraying “transgender woman” Lia Thomas, a biological male who’s been dominating college-level women’s swimming, as the real victim.
Partly at issue, according to NBC News, is that Thomas’s critics have been referring to him by his real name, Will Thomas, and by his real pronouns, he and him. The network is particularly upset with conservative media over this.
“Some of the headlines about Thomas’ wins said she ‘smashed’ the records and continued her ‘dominant’ season alongside pre-transition photos of her and using her previous name and male pronouns — practices known as deadnaming and misgendering,” NBC’s piece reads.
Below is a post-transition photo of him:
Hats off to Lia Thomas (right) for breaking all these records in women’s swimming competitions. I just wish we knew what her secret was so every athlete could be as talented. #UPenn pic.twitter.com/QgloR405b9

The network also complains about the criticism itself, noting that far-left “transgender advocates” say the criticism is “transphobic.”
“They said it mischaracterizes her victories to make it appear that transgender women are cheating just by being trans and implies that one trans woman winning means trans women generally are dominating women’s sports,” the piece reads.
While the piece does include one quote from a critic, the vast majority of the post is spent quoting from transgender activists and advocates who all echo the same point about critics allegedly suffering from so-called “transphobia.”
What the piece lacks is any mention of Thomas’s prior record as a male college swimmer. He was, to put it simply, a loser. Thomas reportedly competed for three years in the NCAA and won nothing — not a single award.
As a “transgender woman,” meanwhile, he’s blown every record in women’s college swimming out the water, and as previously reported, his female teammates aren’t happy about what they perceive to be a “lack of fairness.”

One teammate told Outkick last week that she “wants people to know that Penn swimmers are ‘angry’ over the lack of fairness in the sport as Lia Thomas destroys the record books and brings fellow teammates to tears.”
She spoke with the sports outlet anonymously because of “threats from the university, activists, and the political climate.”
Left-wing activists, to be exact. Like the left-wing activists in the media who critics say are now seeking to silence opponents of radical transgender ideology.
As seen below, however, critics refuse to remain silent in the face of what they say is “woke misogyny and sexism” from the establishment press:
Well she’s a guy. The trans movement is literally erasing women. This chump who transitioned because he couldn’t hack it in the men’s division is setting records no real woman will ever break. And the media terrorizes his teammates to suffer this injustice in silence

You’re not going to squelch the debate over the unfair physical advantage that M to F transgender athletes have over biological women, by gaslighting those of us who see this legitimate unfairness to women as “transphobia”.

NBC News doesn’t want anyone questioning or discussing if this is fair to the sport of women’s swimming. They rather no one ever talk about it and stay silent.

Women are the target. Women’s sports are the target. Our human right and those of our daughters to fair competition in sports is being trampled on. This is the vilest form of misogyny, peppered with gaslighting. Insidious! Shaming us for fighting for what is rightfully ours

Dress how you, call your self what you want, use what ever bathroom you want IDK. I believe in anti discrimination laws to protect trans people in schools and businesses, but I just can’t accept someone who clearly has a biological advantage competing in women sports.

@NBCNews is trying to censor the language women use to fight for their right which includes the right to safe and fair athletic competition. Lia is a male who has an unfair advantage over the female swimmers. We need to unpack the woke misogyny and sexism @NBCNews.

As noted earlier, NBC News is also facing ridicule.
One Twitter user accused the network of being the one actually guilty of “misgendering,” because biologically speaking, Thomas isn’t a “she” or “her.”
Another critic shared a clip of a “South Park” episode in which an extremely muscular man who resembles “Macho Man” Randy Savage crushes female track players.
See some of the ridicule below:
Ironically, you yourself have just misgendered this young man by erroneously referring to him as “she” and “her.” He is a fellow who changed his name to Lia, which is a very silly boy’s name.
Also, please stop facilitating his misogyny that’s actually hurting real women.

Calling a human with a penis a girl is misgendering.
