Fox News host Jesse Watters blasted President Joe Biden on Monday’s episode of Fox News’ “The Five,” criticizing the commander-in-chief for brushing off his abysmal polling numbers by insinuating that the American people don’t know which way is up.
Biden joined Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show,” on Friday via Zoom. When the late-night host asked the leader of the free world about his lackluster polling numbers, Biden attempted to laugh it off.
“How much do you pay attention to approval ratings?” Fallon asked.
“Well, not anymore,” Biden responded, claiming that American voters are being fed lies about his administration. “People are getting so much inaccurate information, they’re being told that … Armageddon is on the way.”
Watters was not impressed by the president’s attempt to make light of his steadily declining approval rating by questioning the intelligence of the American people.
“Do you know how small [Biden] … has to look to go on a late-night TV show (on Zoom, by the way, not in person) and complain that no one listens to them anymore. ‘Jimmy, nobody trusts what I say anymore. You know, it’s like the American people are just so anxious and they’re just a bunch of suckers who will believe anything anybody tells them, right, Jimmy? Jimmy, you tell them, you’re the good guy, right?'” Watters’ said of Biden’s appearance.
Watters continued, parodying what Biden said despite it sounding eerily similar to Biden’s actual appearance.
“‘Tell them how I have inflation under control, tell them how crime is down, tell them how I saved three cents in gas, right Jimmy? Everybody else is lying, but Jimmy, you and I are telling the truth,” Watters joked.
The Fox News host criticized the president’s frustration with the American people for being stressed and fearful about the coronavirus and the state of the economy.
“And then he gets up and he says, You know what? Everyone’s scared. Well, who’s scared him, Joe?” Watters posited.
‘You have still people putting face masks on babies. You have people double vaxxed, boosted test negative and still have to wear a mask. They’re scared because you scared them,” the Fox News host pointed out.
Biden’s dismissal of Americans’ anxiety and stress over the declining state of the country was followed by fingerpointing– a common occurrence under the Biden Administration. Biden blamed the American people for his poor poll numbers, another common thread under this administration.
“Now not only that, you have high crime, and you have high prices in America. People feel that, and they’re not going to listen to a politician, tell them they’re not feeling what they’re actually feeling,” Watters stated.
The latest ABC /Ipsos poll on the Biden administration’s performance released Sunday found that the majority of Americans (69%), disapprove of Biden’s handling of inflation, and 57% of respondents disapproved of the president’s performance on economic recovery.
On Friday, inflation hit a nearly 40-year-high under the Biden administration and the core price index saw its’ highest rate in 30 years.
