CNN host Don Lemon is literally singing the praises of a purported seven-cent drop in gas prices.

In a cringeworthy segment on his cable show that it seems hardly anyone watches outside of clips that occasionally gain traction on social media, the celebratory Lemon (or Luh-Mon, as Tucker Carlson calls him) described the practically infinitesimal price decrease as “big economic relief” for millions of Americans.

“The cost at the pump finally easing up. The national average for a gallon of regular falling to $3.35, the lowest since October,” Lemon claimed

“Just look at that,” he noted, putting a chart on the screen that showed a gallon costing $3.42 last month and $3.39 last week. At that point, Lemon let loose with what is being described as a “serenade,” or a “chorus noise” or some sort of embarrassing warbling.

“And the government is forecasting gas will drop to three dollars and one cent by January,” he continued.

Lemon then brought on former Obama economic adviser Austan Goolsbee who lamented that he should have waited a few days before spending $64 to fill up his tank (presumably, Goolsbee only would have had to shell out about $63 or so instead.)

“Can we just celebrate some good news just for a minute; I’ll take it where I can get it,” Lemon said, tossing it Goolsbee.

Goolsbee attributed the gas price drop to a related drop in oil prices, Biden’s decision to release 50 million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve (which only constituted two or three days of supply), and that OPEC has backed off on restricting oil output.

“But gas prices are highly variable,” he conceded. “They go up; they go down. By next summer, they’ll probably be up again.”

Lemon agreed. “I’ve been on this earth long enough to see really high gas prices and really low gas prices…you’re right; they fluctuate a lot.”

The liberal Lemon probably never would acknowledge that the U.S. achieved energy independence under ex-President Donald Trump, who previously deemed Lemon the dumbest man on television.

The segment, which Nicholas Fondacaro of the Media Research Center characterized as “state-run media,” comes as reports have surfaced that Biden surrogates are quietly meeting with major newsrooms “to try to reshape economic coverage” in the administration’s favor.

It remains to be seen if Lemon will follow colleague Chris Cuomo out the door for a lapse in journalistic ethics (if that concept even exists anymore) after it was revealed during the Jussie Smollett trial that he allegedly tipped off the actor that the police were skeptical of his account of the supposed hate crime attack.

Lemon is also being sued for an alleged sexual assault in a case that is expected to be heard in early 2022.

Before the episode aired, Lemon asked his Twitter followers “What do dropping gas prices and skyrocketing stocks mean for you?” which prompted some degree of mockery.

The reaction to the segment itself was similarly skeptical, to say the least. Here is just a sampling:
