Just fifteen minutes before he was set to go, President Joe Biden postponed a speech he was to give on the rather important matter of America’s supply chain, leaving the panel of Fox News’ “The Five” to speculate Monday on the president’s declining awareness of reality and his refusal to face it.
Host Jesse Watters remarked that economists are in the only profession that gets paid to not see things coming, noting that Biden’s so-called fix in leaving ports open 24 hours has not improved upon anything – in fact, only one port in the U.S. did so – and a huge infusion of spending taxpayer money is short-sighted and reckless.
“That’s like fiscal methamphetamine,” Watters quipped.
“Did he [Biden] solve the trucking issue? No. He slapped vax mandates on truckers – the people that literally don’t come close to anyone in weeks,” he said, adding, “The reason we have this also … is because Fauci shut down the economy.”
Co-host Geraldo Rivera did his usual yeoman’s work in defending the Biden regime, laughably declaring that the economy is “white hot.” He pointed to the fact that although he feels optimistic, all things point back to COVID and whether or not the country shutters itself again.
Dagen McDowell countered with: “The economy is not ‘hot’ for a lot of people. For the upper class [inflation] it’s an inconvenience, but for working men and women in this country, it’s a great hardship.”
She continued, “Joe Biden is not going to talk today. You can see it, ‘I gotta go out there and act like I care?’ They do not care. Jen Psaki today keeps saying that ‘Build Back Better,’ this giant welfare monstrosity is going to help inflation? See again, those egghead economists are stupid. They didn’t see this coming. The inflation rate is three times what they expected it would be, and Jen Psaki is standing up there telling the American people what they know is not true?”
Co-host Dana Perino offered her take on the situation, saying: “They initially said inflation wasn’t happening, and then they said it would be temporary. Then they said, well it’s not that bad. Your turkey’s only a dollar more, or it’s a high-class problem, but then they realized, oh, wait, the poll numbers are showing something bad. So then they started to blame everyone. The problem is they are not on the same page in terms of who they are blaming. For example, they are blaming energy companies for rising gas prices, while at the same time talking to OPEC, begging them to increase production. So it’s like one bad thing after another.”
Co-host Greg Gutfeld concluded, “One bad thing after another, the Biden administration.”
Some on Twitter had a different take on the reason behind Biden’s speech postponement, which was said to be in the interest of spending more time with business leaders.
A White House officials says Biden “wanted to ensure ample time spent with the business leaders who traveled to the White House today. The President will deliver additional remarks on Wednesday on the economy, supply chains and lowering costs for the American people.”
