During his Thanksgiving vacation on Nantucket Island, mask fan President Joe Biden apparently has been spotted wandering around a store maskless even though a big sign is posted on the front door that reads: “Required: Face Covering”

A mask advisory is currently in effect in Nantucket, an upscale liberal Massachusetts enclave near Cape Cod. Biden obviously is hardly the only high-profile Democrat in the COVID era that has been caught violating policies imposed on everyone else.

Biden himself was seen out and about in public without social distancing and without a mask on several prior occasions.

Politicians also have a tendency to put a mask on only when they think the corporate media cameras are around.

“The president was seen inside Murray’s Toggery Shop on the island of Nantucket Saturday with his mask around his neck and not covering his mouth despite a visible sign outside the door instructing patrons to wear a mask,” Fox News reported.

Biden apparently made a side trip to another store, The Sunken Ship, which some people perceive as an appropriate metaphor for his crisis-troubled administration and associated low approval ratings among the American electorate.

Nantucket’s board of health reinstituted a mask mandate earlier this month “after the town’s most recent wastewater analysis showed a significant increase in the presence of COVID-19 in the sewer system,” local media reported.

For optics of another kind, “middle-class Joe” has already raised eyebrows by spending the holiday at the Nantucket home of a private-equity billionaire.

Here’s what Nantucket’s health authorities currently advise:

As a result of increasing cases across the Cape and Islands, The Town of Nantucket’s Health and Human Services Department is advising all residents and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, to use masks while indoors and at public locations when physical distance is not possible. The increased virulence of the Delta variant, and its high ability to infect even those vaccinated in some cases, means that masking and distancing are strongly recommended at this time.

Prolonged exposure, indoors and at high concentrations, is likely the cause of vaccinated individuals becoming infected. The Delta variant has also shown breakthrough ability against natural immunity and can reinfect those who have already had COVID. Please keep your safety, and the safety of those around you, in mind.

Many social media users took notice of Biden’s shopping excursion. Here’s a sampling:

From the GOP’s Jake Schneider: “Not too long ago, Biden called wearing a mask “a patriotic responsibility, for God’s sake” and “How many times has Biden lectured us on wearing a mask?”

Other Twitter uses also weighed in along these lines:

  • Typical Democrat. Rules for Thee, not for Me.
  • In your face hypocrisy. Again. And again. And again. And again.
  • If it weren’t for hypocrisy, he’d have no character at all.
