Straight-shooter Harris Faulkner can’t stifle her reaction to claim Joe Biden runs the White House

Fox News contributor Ari Fleischer claimed on Thursday that President Joe Biden is himself actually running the White House.

The claim was so surprising that host Harris Faulkner, one of the most straight shooters at Fox News, looked back at him in utter shock and awe.

Because of the president’s fumbling behavior, it’s been assumed by many that his “handlers” have been running the show.

It appears Faulkner was under the same impression.

“Who is running the White House, in your estimation? You have been inside. You know what it looks like. Is it fair to continue to question that?” she asked Fleischer on Fox News’ “The Faulkner Focus.”

“Unequivocally, it’s Joe Biden. It is,” the former W. Bush-era White House press secretary quickly replied without hesitation.

“You think it is?!” Faulkner blurted out in shock.

“Absolutely,” Fleischer said, doubling down.

This prompted Faulkner to ask why, if he’s not just a mindless puppet being “handled” by others, the president turns his back to the media instead of sticking around to answer questions like his predecessor.

“Because he doesn’t want to talk to the media. Because he’s running the show and he gets to make those decisions,” Fleischer responded.

But this doesn’t appear to be true. There have been multiple instances in which the president has tried to speak, only to have his microphone cut by others.

One such incident happened just two months ago:

The incident occurred around the same time that Politico confirmed that when the president speaks, sometimes “White House staffers will either mute him or turn off his remarks.”

“It’s not that they’re indifferent to what their boss has to say. Indeed, their livelihoods are directly invested in it. Rather, they’re filled with anxiety that he’s going to take questions from the press and veer off the West Wing’s carefully orchestrated messaging,” according to the mainstream establishment outlet.

He certainly doesn’t appear to be running the show in such circumstances.

In fairness, White House press secretary Jen Psaki reportedly said at the time that, even though they tell the president to not take questions, “he’s going to do what he wants to do because he’s the president of the United States.”

Fair enough, though it still doesn’t explain his microphone being cut.

Continuing his remarks on Fox News, Fleischer tripled down, saying the president is the one making the calls at the White House.

“Look, I think it’s overstated to make the case that it’s his advisors, it’s other people. Presidents make the call. Presidents make the decision. And Joe Biden is well enough that he is making those decisions, so it’s Joe Biden. He’s just making the wrong decisions,” he said.

The latter comment certainly provoked no pushback from Harris.

That being said, the idea that the president “is well enough” is contradicted by mounds of evidence showing Biden speaking incoherently, wandering about as if he’s lost, and displaying signs of potential senility.

Even Nikki Haley, a fairly establishment Republican, has raised concerns, recently saying in an interview that the president’s mental state makes her “nervous.”

“He keeps giving signals that he’s not with us. So it’s not people hating on Biden, it’s Biden really showing the country that he’s not totally in charge, and that makes everyone nervous,” she said.

Former Obama and Trump-era White House physician Ronny Jackson has also raised concerns.

“All I know is that he’s got age-related cognitive decline, right. He is not mentally fit right now. He’s 78 years old and you can see it. You don’t need to be a physician to look at him and to look at his behavior and some of the other stuff, just the way he shuffles away, stares off into space,” he recently said.

“I know what that job entails, both physically and mentally, and how demanding it is. And I can tell you right now, I’m 100% sure that Joe Biden is incapable of doing that job,” he added.

Most Americans seem to feel similarly. A recent Pew Research Center poll found that 56 percent of Americans believe the president’s mental capabilities are “not at all well” or “not too well.”

Fleischer, however, is clearly not among them, but perhaps he knows best. Or perhaps not.
