Following Alec Baldwin’s tragic shooting accident on the set of his movie “Rust” where his cinematographer Halyna Hutchins was killed, conservative actors Robert Davi, Adam Baldwin, and Nick Searcy are speaking out over the deadly incident.

TMZ is reporting that real bullets were stored next to blanks on the set and that cast members used the guns for target practice during downtime. And not everyone in Hollywood is giving Alec Baldwin a pass on the shooting and pushing all the blame on the armorer either.

Actor Robert Davi posted a video on Twitter explaining that Baldwin should have checked the gun after it was handed to him to confirm it was not loaded. The responsibility and blame partially fall on Baldwin for not doing so.

“There are very defined protocols an actor must go through to have a weapon on set – Prayers for Halyna Hutchins May she RIP,” Davi tweeted.

Actor Adam Baldwin was even blunter in his assessment of the situation. He says there is no excuse for this kind of negligence considering that the actor was rehearsing at the time and pointing a gun at the crew.

“Why did he aim, cock and pull the trigger – of his unchecked weapon – in the direction of crewmembers during a rehearsal? Ans: Negligence,” Baldwin stated on Twitter.

Actor Nick Searcy asked via Twitter, “This is it. Why on Earth a trigger would be pulled under ANY CIRCUMSTANCES during a rehearsal is hard to understand.”

Then Searcy pointed out that the media is providing cover for Baldwin over the shooting by blaming the armorer, Hannah Gutierrez Reed.

Gun expert Stephen Gutowski also slammed the level of negligence involved in the shooting, “If this is true, the amount of negligence is astounding.”

“This report claims the gun was handled by at least three people who thought it was unloaded. Nobody took the few moments necessary to check the cylinder to verify it was actually unloaded. This could have been stopped at several different points by several different people,” he added.

Dave Halls, who was the first assistant director on the film and allegedly handled the gun given to Baldwin, is also being blamed for the accident. It was reportedly his job is to oversee everything going on with the day-to-day operations on the set, according to the LA Times. And it was Halls who allegedly yelled, “Cold gun!” before it was handed to Baldwin.

“Rust” crewmember Serge Svetnoy, who is said to have held Hutchins as she died, tore into Alec Baldwin for being too cheap to hire an experienced armorer which he believes cost the cinematographer her life. “No saved penny is worth the LIFE of the person,” he stated.

Alec Baldwin was reportedly practicing a “cross draw” in a church pew that required pointing his gun at the camera when it went off, according to the New York Post.

Sunday night, two witness accounts were made public by the Sante Fe Sheriff’s Office that confirm what happened during the accident. It is unknown why the weapon was discharged. The movie has been halted and Baldwin is taking time off to reassess after the accident.

No arrests have been made in connection to the tragedy. The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office is stating that the incident “remains an active, open investigation.”
