Fox News’ Chris Wallace believes White House press secretary Jen Psaki is “one of the best White House press secretaries ever,” though it’s not clear how exactly he defines the role of a press secretary.

If he thinks that a press secretary’s role is to incessantly lie, obfuscate, distort and distract, then he may have a point, according to critics.

Wallace made the questionable remark while speaking on Fox News’ “America Reports” Friday afternoon about a back-and-forth exchange between Psaki and Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy that had occurred only moments earlier.

“Honestly, as somebody who’s spent six years in the White House, my immediate reaction was, ‘Those are two people at the top of their game.’ … I think that [Doocy] has become the Sam Donaldson of this White House press corps … and Jen Psaki, I think, is one of the best press secretaries ever,” he said of the exchange.

In fairness to the Fox News host, he did praise Doocy as well. But his remark still left a sour taste in critics’ mouths anyway because in their opinion, Psaki deserves condemnation, not praise.

Look (*Language warning):

It’s true that Wallace is a registered Democrat.

It’s also true that if “adeptness at lying,” the “ability to divert from the questions” and “changing and fixing every mistake Biden makes” makes one a quality press secretary, then Psaki may indeed be the greatest ever.

During the exchange between her and Doocy, she was pressed about one of the lies that President Joe Biden had uttered during a CNN town hall the prior evening. The president had specifically claimed he’s been at the border before and “know[s] it well.”

Doocy and Psaki both knew this to be a lie because they’d already discussed it a month earlier. The White House press secretary nevertheless chose to spin a new narrative.

“Well, Peter, as you may have seen, there’s been reporting that he did drive through the border when he was on the campaign trail in 2008. And he is certainly familiar with the fact — and it stuck with him — with the fact that in El Paso, the border goes right through the center of town,” she said.

Either she genuinely thought the southern border is a Taco Bell, or she was lying.

Her past history strongly suggests she was lying.

In the past few months alone, she’s claimed that the rapidly rising inflation that’s devastating people’s savings is a “good thing,” that the majority of illegal migrants crossing the southern U.S. border are “not intending to stay here for a lengthy period of time” and that the president’s low approval rating is the fault of the unvaccinated.

Over the summer meanwhile, internal White House emails procured through a Freedom of Information Act request revealed that the president’s dog, Major, had bit multiple Secret Service agents a total of eight days in a row.

However, before this finding emerged, Psaki had acknowledged only one biting incident, saying that “the first family’s younger dog, Major, was surprised by an unfamiliar person and reacted in a way that resulted in a minor injury to the individual.”

She’d therefore lied …
