DHS forks over almost half a million for Biden wall, but it’s not to keep Americans safe

President Joe Biden has ironically tasked the Department of Homeland Security with building a fence that will cost $455,000 around his Delaware Beach home, better known as his “Summer White House,” as illegal border crossings hit a 35-year high.

DHS awarded a construction contract in September of $456,548 to Turnstone Holdings LLC designated for the PURCHASE AND INSTALLATION OF SECURITY FENCING AT 32 FARVIEW, REHOBOTH DELAWARE,” according to USAspending.gov, which is an online database tracking federal government spending.

The beginning date for construction of the fence was September 21 and is expected to end on December 31.

DHS is listed as the funding office while the US Secret Service is listed as the subagency in the contract. Further details on the fencing have not been released for security reasons.

Fox News host Sean Hannity ripped into Biden on Friday for building a fence around his beach home while leaving the border wide open.

“Joe Biden and his radical advisors do not care about safety and security, they only care about politics – just look at the border,” Hannity contended.

“Ironically, at the same time Biden started construction on a giant wall around his beach house – at your expense of course,” he noted.

“But Joe Biden is just too busy to visit [the southern border] … but not too busy to spend nearly every weekend in Delaware at the beach,” Hannity concluded.

“While Joe Biden refuses to secure America’s southern border, he is building walls around his vacation home,” Fox News host Jesse Watters stated on Friday evening. “Maybe walls do work after all.”

The construction of the security fence around the 6,850 square foot property which was built on a four-acre lot screams hypocrisy to many as the southern border is left virtually open. In Biden’s first year in office, the United States has seen historic numbers of illegal aliens stream across the southern border onto American property that has no such protective fencing.

Data from Customs and Border Protection that was released this week shows that 1.7 million illegal aliens have crossed the border in Fiscal Year 2021, which is the highest number since 1986.

When Biden came into office, he immediately halted construction on the border wall that former President Trump had initiated. He also regulated how the Border Patrol could handle those illegally coming across and, in essence, stopped most efforts to curb the surge of illegal aliens.

DHS announced in October that they will cancel “the remaining border barrier contracts located within US Border Patrol’s (USBP) Laredo Sector and all border barrier contracts located in the Rio Grande Valley Sector.”

The funds that were allocated for the construction of the wall but that have not been spent will instead be funneled to environmental projects including “biological, cultural, and natural resource surveys” in the border region.

Biden has previously stepped up security around his Delaware beach home. In June, the Secret Service and local law enforcement implemented a checkpoint at an intersection on the way to his home. They closed a pond and then put temporary flight restrictions in place, according to the Cape Gazette.

The Coast Guard also created security zones in the Lewes-Rehoboth Canal and the Atlantic Ocean to provide an added layer of security for Biden’s $2.7 million summer home near Cape Henlopen.
