Ana Navarro is ghoulishly politicizing the death of Gen. Colin Powell, the ex-chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and later U.S. Secretary of State in the G.W. Bush administration.
The obsessive Never Trumper took to social media right away to exploit the passing for tawdry partisan purposes of this highly respected military officer and diplomat who twice received the presidential medal of freedom.
“Many Republicans will say poignant words about C Powell today. As a reminder, Powell called Trump a ‘liar’ who skirted the Constitution and said he no longer called himself a Republican because of 1/6. Honor him by standing for truth and supporting the January 6th Committee,” the CNN commentator and “The View” co-host wrote on Twitter to her 1.7 million followers.
Leaving politics aside, tributes are pouring in domestically and from around the world for Powell, 84, a Vietnam War veteran who served in executive positions under four presidential administrations in his illustrious career, including as national security advisor under Ronald Reagan. Gen. Powell was once considered a potential presidential candidate himself.
He died from complications related to COVID-19, in an announcement from his family on Monday, which also included an expression of thanks to the staff at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in suburban D.C. for their caring treatment.

Fully vaccinated against the virus, Powell was battling multiple myeloma, which is a form of blood cancer, and other illnesses, according to CBS News and other outlets.
Ana Navarro is touted as a Republican strategist if you can believe CNN (the most trusted name in news, according to its slogan), but who doesn’t like the GOP very much, especially Trump supporters who compose the grassroots base of the party. She was ‘Ridin’ with Biden‘ in the Election 2020 campaign.
She supported Jeb Bush in the 2016 election cycle primary contest which may explain the non-stop Trump animus.
There will be plenty of coverage and appropriate assessments of various aspects of Powell’s career and his views as the next few days or weeks unfold.
Navarro is, however, disturbingly receiving applause from liberal Twitter for immediately bashing Trump so soon after Powell’s passing.
Others contend that she should have steered clear of political commentary at this sensitive moment. Here is a sampling:
This is both disrespectful AND obnoxious. Quite the feat. https://t.co/LHCCHotuDs

Cannot even wait before putting Trump’s name out there. God, let Powell’s family have an hour of peace.

Why does his death have to be about Donald Trump?

How many minutes after someone dies before Ana makes it pathetically political? 5, 4, 3, 2… https://t.co/qwFk01x4Bm

Wow any excuse to bring up Trump. Your brain is truly broken. I feel sorry for you. https://t.co/UDnheSRFVf

That didn’t take long to be divisive on the man’s memory

Ana should have shame, but clearly she doesn’t https://t.co/SLBOqVIZGL

You could’ve honored General Powell without talking about politics. When he honored people after their death, he did that.

Way to avoid politics for all of five seconds, Ana. Pure class. 👌🏼
