Trump’s pick for Arizona governor bluntly asserts that Jan. 6 rioters were ‘invited in by Capitol Police’

Wildly popular former Fox News anchor Kari Lake, who has been endorsed by former President Trump as an Arizona gubernatorial candidate, is asserting that Capitol rioters were “invited in by Capitol Police.”

“They haven’t been charged with a crime, and they were invited in by Capitol Police,” Lake claimed during an interview with news outlet RSBN at Trump’s Oct. 10 rally in Des Moines, Iowa.

A number of police officers were reprimanded for posing for selfies with protesters on Jan. 6 and for moving barricades in order for them to move forward. There were also violent confrontations between some protesters and police. It is still unclear exactly what took place with police officers as video footage has not been released by the Department of Justice.

Lake reportedly packs events in Arizona while making statements that rile the left. She has allegedly called for Trump’s face to be added to Mount Rushmore. She has also stated that she would not have certified the 2020 election results and claims the presidential election was fraudulent.

“I’ve never seen hundreds of people go to an event over a year out,” stated Tyler Montague, who is a longtime Republican operative from the East Valley, concerning Lake’s rallies.

“Few, if any, political operatives in Arizona have ever seen anything like Lake. When she left Fox 10 after 27 years as a news anchor in March, she recorded a video declaring that she walked away because she had to read news she didn’t believe was truthful and no longer felt proud to be a member of the media,” the AZ Mirror further reported. “Three months later, she launched her campaign for governor. Since then, she’s become a phenomenon: shooting into the lead in the crowded gubernatorial primary, confounding her opponents and surging to the front of the field with a populist conservative message and 27 years’ worth of name ID from her career in television.”

She’s against vaccine mandates, face mask requirements, and other COVID-19 mitigation measures. She promotes and supports law enforcement and is a proponent of strict border security and enforcement of laws against illegal immigration. Lake has also made demands for “election integrity” a central theme of her campaign and is a big supporter of the 2nd Amendment.

“Considering how much already at the time information we had about serious irregularities and problems with the election, I would not have certified it right then,” Lake remarked in an interview with One American News Network concerning the 2020 election.

Many voters in Arizona still believe that fraud was involved in President Joe Biden taking the state. Trump and many conservatives still contend that the audit in Arizona uncovered “undeniable evidence” of voter fraud.

“They’ve had it. The pendulum’s coming back, and it’s coming back as a wrecking ball. And there’s no returning from this. We’re not going back to the way things used to be, with these politicians who run us into the ground, don’t give a damn about our issues and what matters to us,” Lake also told the AZ Mirror.

Because of her allegiance to Trump and Lake’s popularity, the long knives have come out for her on the left and they are trying to smear her in any way they can to keep her from being elected in Arizona.

In Trump’s endorsement of Lake, he stated that “few can take on the Fake News Media like Kari.” He also said she would make the “MAGA movement very proud.”

While endorsing Lake, Trump took a swipe at Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, remarking that she “will do a far better job than RINO Governor Doug Ducey – won’t even be a contest!”

Trump has little use for Ducey who certified the state’s election results while appearing to ignore a call from him. On December 1, he tweeted that all 15 counties had certified the election results and that Arizona wasn’t going to “disenfranchise any voter.”

“That’s the law. I’ve sworn an oath to uphold it, and I take my responsibility seriously,” Ducey tweeted at the time.

Ducey will not run for re-election in the 2022 Arizona gubernatorial election due to term limits. It’s doubtful that he would have run even if he could because his popularity has tanked and the political writing is on the wall.

Lake is running against four other candidates for the GOP nomination but with Trump’s endorsement and her political draw, it appears she will be the favored choice in Arizona. She’s now being called the “unstoppable Kari Lake.”
