MSNBC is rolling out another conspiracy theory, this time by fast-forwarding to 2024.
“Mark my words: If Donald Trump is the 2024 Republican presidential nominee, and Republicans control the House of Representatives, they will not certify a Democratic victory in 2024,” Mehdi Hasan insisted, without evidence.
The MSNBC host also claimed pro-Trump forces are still trying to overturn the 2020 presidential election even as Democrats are essentially in control of the entire federal government.
“Nine months after the storming of the United States Capitol, the attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election is still underway. We are in the midst of a rolling coup. Almost every day, Republicans pass more voter suppression laws. They purge more and more election officials, and they entrench the ‘big lie’ that the election was stolen,” Hasan asserted.
He then played a clip of Donald Trump speaking at a rally In Iowa on Saturday in which the ex-POTUS encouraged Republican officeholders to stay strong, which is reflective of the visceral feelings of the MAGA movement.
From the left’s standpoint, laws that reinforce ballot integrity and aim to prevent fraud are apparently equivalent to voter suppression.
Playing a clip of an interview between Fox News anchor Chris Wallace and U.S. Rep. Steve Scalise (R-La.) about Election 2020, Hasan claimed he found the latter’s words “most chilling.”

Scalise was simply alluding to the fact, not conjecture, that Democrat officials in various states unconstitutionally bypassed the state legislatures by implementing far-reaching changes in election laws that turned out to be quite beneficial to then-candidate Joe Biden.
The corporate media takes the position that there was no “widespread” fraud in the election and frowns upon any further questioning of the same.
“[Scalise] is carefully foreshadowing what the GOP position is likely to be come 2024. Not just election fraud, but making sure that Republican state legislatures will have the power to pick each slate of presidential electors — never mind voters and their pesky votes in a democracy,” Hasan declared.
In a form of projection for which liberals/progressive have become known, the host of the “Mehdi Hasan Show” noted that the “Republicans want to unilaterally decide who runs the country. It’s all about election subversion now…as I have said many times before, this is not normal. None of this is normal. As a newcomer to this country, let me remind you, that if we were seeing what’s happening here in another country, we’d be very, very alarmed.”
The counterpoint might be that Trump derangement syndrome is far from normal, too. He also might have mentioned that Democrats abnormally spent four-plus years accusing Trump of stealing the 2016 election through an unfounded conspiracy with Russia.
Hasan, who is from the U.K., went on to acknowledge in his monologue that he became an American citizen because of all the “wonderful and great things” the U.S. has to offer. But he also chided America for its failure to adopt European-style socialist policies.
Pushing a similar narrative on another MSNBC show recently, liberal historian Michael Beschloss accused the GOP of preventing voting access in certain states and implied that winning Democrats could somehow be prevented from taking office in 2022 and 2024.
Again, it has often been said that the left, in its purported alarmism about democracy being under attack by its political opposition, often accuses the right of doing things the left is actually doing.

Catering to its declining audience, MSNBC regularly traffics in conspiracy theories to demonize those with whom it disagrees politically.
Several weeks ago, for example, host Joy Reid accused Republicans of running a “death cult” that is “A-Okay with COVID running wild” and that Republicans want the infection “pumping through their veins.”
