GoFundMe has removed the fundraising page of the Texas student who opened fire at Arlington high school and wounded four students after his family set it up requesting $25,000 to treat his alleged “trauma” over his father’s death.
Two of the shooting victims are still in the hospital while 18-year-old Timothy Simpkins was allowed to walk free on bond.
The GoFundMe page was launched Thursday by Dallas attorney Kim T. Cole, who asked the public to donate money to help Simpkins, according to the Daily Mail.
“The fundraiser was removed from the platform because it violated GoFundMe Terms of Service,” a spokesman for the company told the Daily Mail. “Less than $150 was raised and all donors have been refunded.”
“Many of you have seen the video of the brutal beating Timothy Simpkins received. He never even returned a blow. He simply balled up and covered his head trying to protect himself,” his mother Katrina Simpkins wrote on the GoFundMe page before it was removed.
“What you don’t know is that Timothy was robbed at gunpoint and stripped of his possessions a couple of weeks ago,” his mother continued. “And the unfortunate backstory is that Timothy’s father was brutally beaten to death. This fact definitely heightened Timothy’s fear for his life.”
“Not to mention that the young man responsible for beating and harassing him made had recently made threats to kill him so you see, my son was terrified and believed he would be murdered just like his father,” she contended.
She argued that while she was “not suggesting taking a gun to school was the right choice,” there is “so much more to the story.”
Tonight the family of Timothy Simpkins talked to the media.
“The decision he made, taking the gun, we are not justifying that, That was not right, but he was trying to protect himself. We hope the police department does the investigation properly.” @FOX4 pic.twitter.com/6diMxNRQSk

“My son has gone through a very traumatic experience. He needs counseling and therapy,” she added. “Please donate what you can to help.”
The incident at Timberview High School in Arlington, Texas began earlier this week with a fight caught on video and was then broken up by teachers. It ended with a shooting on Wednesday.
Simpkins allegedly critically wounded 15-year-old Zacchaeus Selby and also wounded a 25-year-old teacher named Calvin Pettitt whom he shot in the back.
Selby is still in the hospital fighting for his life after allegedly being shot four times by Simpkins.
After the shooting, Simpkins reportedly fled. He eventually turned himself in to the police. He was released on Thursday after posting bond for his $75,000 bail.

Simpkins’ family is claiming that he is an innocent victim of bullying who was forced to protect himself after being continuously picked on. They said it was because he had “nice things” like expensive sneakers and a Dodge Charger.
Selby’s family also launched a GoFundMe page to help pay for his medical expenses. They have raised more than $3,000 of the $10,000 goal as of Friday evening. The boy was scheduled for additional surgery on Friday.

“How does this keep managing to get worse?” Calvin Pettitt’s sister angrily tweeted after Simpkins was set free.
His next court date has not been scheduled yet and it’s not known at this point where he obtained the gun used in the shooting. However, there were other weapons found in his home, according to Fox4.
He’ll reportedly be monitored by GPS, undergo regular drug and alcohol testing, and be confined to his home until his not-yet-determined trial date.
