Michael Flynn: U.S. has ‘two governments’, one that is elected and the other that actually runs things

Former Trump National Security Adviser Michael Flynn said in an interview with Tucker Carlson that unbeknownst to most Americans, there are two separate governing entities in the United States: The one voters select and another that operates in the shadows and calls most of the shots.

During his Thursday show monologue, Carlson began by playing a video clip containing a montage of examples where President Joe Biden made a number of gaffes and verbal miscues during events and debates last year while campaigning. Noting that he wasn’t playing the clip to ridicule Biden, he went on to note that “voters knew what they were getting” when they voted for him.

“What’s interesting is, now that he’s in office, Biden’s handlers are doing everything they can to prevent us from noticing that he’s not really in charge,” Carlson continued before showing photos of a “fake White House set” administration officials set up for the president “across the street from the actual White House,” adding that it is located in an auditorium in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building.

After questioning the need for a fabricated set, Carlson noted that Stephen Miller, a former top adviser to President Donald Trump, speculated that it was built to put Biden in a more controlled environment where he could read from statements posted to “face-on monitor.”

After noting that he couldn’t verify Miller’s explanation, though it “sounds right,” Carlson said, “Joe Biden can’t speak from the Oval Office because he’s not sure what to say.”

That, he continued, “raises a much deeper question. The question is not, ‘Is Joe Biden mentally impaired?’ Obviously, he is and again, we’re not gonna gloat over it.” But, the host continued, “if he’s not running the government, then who is?”

“Clearly the FBI, the [Justice Department], and the military are already acting independently of the elected president of the United States,” he said, referencing an earlier portion of his monologue in which climate czar and former Obama Secretary of State John Kerry told French media that Biden was not aware Paris had a submarine deal with Australia before the U.S. made one with Canberra to build a half-dozen nuclear-powered subs, which caused France to recall its ambassador.

“Instead, they are, in some cases, freelancing to crush anyone who opposes their power,” Carlson added, before introducing a clip of an interview he did with Flynn, a former three-star Army general and director of the Defense Intelligence Agency under Obama.

“What we learned from the destruction of Mike Flynn was, sure, you can elect Donald Trump president, but does he really run the Executive Branch of government? No, it turned out Barack Obama was still in charge even though he was no longer president,” Carlson said, noting that during Obama’s final months in office his Justice Department and FBI began investigating Flynn over alleged improper communications with a Russian diplomat — an action that was not illegal or improper for an incoming national security adviser.

In the interview for “Tucker Carlson Today” on Fox’s streaming service, “Fox Nation,” Flynn “told us what is really obvious to everyone who watches: An unelected group within Washington effectively runs the country without reference to voters,” Carlson said.

“We have two separate governments. We have the one that actually gets elected and goes into office, and then you have a government inside of Washington D.C., that operates under no rules, no authorities, other than their own or whoever’s in charge of their organizations,” Flynn posited.

After Carlson said that appeared to have been Obama’s doings, Flynn responded, “That, to a degree, is what we’re operating with today.”

Flynn, Carlson went on to say, was a ranking member of the intelligence community, rising to become “the number two guy” at one point before he was fired by Obama, reportedly over his disagreement with the former president’s nuclear deal with Iran.

“So he knows what he’s talking about,” the host said.
