Fox reporter relocates at sound of gunfire, migrants and drugs pulled from storm drains as border chaos continues

The chaos on the southern border with Mexico has not diminished just because the national media is not covering events, as Fox News national correspondent Bill Melugin reported Monday night while all but dodging bullets.

Having whipped all the emotion they could in advancing the false narrative that Border Patrol agents were using whips to abuse Haitian migrants trying to enter the United States illegally, the media went back to ignoring the real national embarrassment, the out-of-control border crisis — aside from affecting the outcome of the 2020 presidential election, this may be the media’s greatest sin today. But then, some would strongly argue that they are all in on fundamentally transforming the American electorate.

In a tweet posted Monday, Melugin explained that they had to vacate a location they were about to do a live hit at because of gunfire.

“Someone shot what sounded to be several small caliber rounds in our vicinity as we were setting up to go live for @BretBaier at the border wall in La Joya, TX. We were only rolling on the last gunshot. Border Patrol has advised us to leave the area, which we are. Unknown source,” he tweeted.

Fox News may be the only national network reporting daily from the border, where well over a million illegal immigrants have entered the U.S. this year alone. There are reports that as many as 400,000 may cross in the coming month, essentially doubling the record set over the summer. And after President Biden released the majority of the more than 15,000 Haitian migrants living in a quickly constructed shantytown under a Texas bridge into the continental U.S., there are also reports that tens of thousands more are on their way.

Evidence of the humanitarian disaster can be seen in one Texas county that is using mobile morgues to keep up with the surging number of migrant bodies being found amid a mass influx of illegal crossings. Brooks county, which recovered 34 bodies last year, has discovered 98 dead migrants this year. This is but one county, yet not a peep is heard from the media.

In a later appearance on “Tucker Carlson Tonight,” Melugin reported that there were so many adult men hiding in the brush as they tried to sneak across the border that he literally had to watch where he was walking to avoid stepping on them.

The reporter explained that Border Patrol agents are able to find these migrants in the dark “because of a surveillance balloon they use called an aerostat,” and that single adults hide because they know they’ll likely be “removed from the country via Title 42 if they are caught.”

But there is no shortage of those giving it a try, as Border Patrol is even pulling illegal immigrants out of storm drains after harnessing up specialized agents to go in after them.
