France has reportedly awakened to the “wokeness” of America.

Numerous French politicians, journalists and intellectuals — the type of people whose counterparts in America are busy professing their “white privilege” and calling for the abolishment of capitalism — have been slamming America for going “woke.”

Take the intellectuals who write for Le Spectacle Du Monde, a prominent French magazine whose latest issue is titled “The Suicide of America.”

According to Zenger News, the latest issue blames the Biden administration’s catastrophic failure in Afghanistan on “a woke dictatorship,” raises the question of whether America is “collapsing” and also shines a spotlight on the extremism being seen in U.S. universities where even “offensive” Halloween costumes are now policed.

The French elites are so concerned about “woke” culture in America that they even reportedly dedicated a panel to the topic during this year’s annual “Tocqueville Conversations” conference at the Chateau de Tocqueville.

“[T]he panel was full of criticism about the perceived decline of free speech in America,” according to Zenger News.

To be fair, not every panel member was French.

“If speech opposes that preferred narrative, we are told it is itself an act of violence. So speech is violence. And responding to such speech with actual violence is an act of self-defense. I think that this is at the core of what is happening to us,” former U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Janice Rogers Brown reportedly said.

She was appointed to her post by former President George. W. Bush in 2005 and served til 2017.

The organizer of the conference, Jean-Guillaume de Tocqueville, reportedly a direct descent of Alexis de Tocqueville, stressed in a statement to Zenger News that dialogue is fundamental to society and warned that a lack of it always spells disaster.

“Our mantra is that we should talk even if we strongly disagree. Nothing prevents you from talking and exchanging and dialoguing,” he said.

“The French Revolution was an event that led to a bloody civil war because the people who were not in agreement with the new ideas, the really revolutionary ideas, were just killed and beheaded. It was not a good way to debate,” he added.

Yet this method of “debate” is preferred by the “woke,” who advocate for and celebrate the silencing and even murder of dissenters.

Though so many American elites fail to recognize the existential threat that “wokeness” poses for society, the French don’t.

Even the French government’s delegate minister for gender equality and diversity — a black woman who’d you expect to be the “wokest” of “woke” — sees the writing on the wall.

“The ‘woke’ culture is something very dangerous, and we shouldn’t bring it to France,” Minister Delegate Elisabeth Moreno said in an interview with Bloomberg last spring.

She further warned that those who are “woke” think it appropriate to “kick out people from ongoing debates because they think otherwise.”

A few weeks after the interview, French President Emmanuel Macron joined the chorus, telling Elle magazine that society “is becoming progressively racialized” because of “woke” ideas like “intersectionality.”

“The logic of intersectionality fractures everything. I stand for universalism. I don’t agree with a fight that reduces everyone to their identity or their particularity. Social difficulties are not only explained by gender and the color of your skin, but also by social inequalities,” he said.

His remarks marked one of the most fervent rebukes of “wokeness” ever heard from a politician. The remarks came months after the first warning signs of the French’s disgruntlement with America began to appear.

“French politicians, high-profile intellectuals and journalists are warning that progressive American ideas — specifically on race, gender, post-colonialism — are undermining their society,” The New York Times reported in February.

But despite the growing fervor from overseas, the American left continues to embrace the “woke,” with the Biden administration referring to mothers as “pregnant people,” doling out loans based on race and pushing for the censorship of dissenters.

It’s not clear what the administration intends to accomplish with its embrace of “wokeness.” What’s clear is that both its embrace of “wokeness” and its other controversial decisions are eroding its relationship with key allies …
